that includes a one-time $71,500 payment.

His new deal is more than double #LSU paid his predecessor, Dennis Johnson, who moved to an analyst last year after suffering knee injuries.

Not a good deal honestly. The guy was awful as time went on in NO and his lines regressed. He was riding that one 2009 year and Super Bowl.

He was an average D-Line coach in the NFL. He did develop players though.

Someone always has to take the negative angle .

The NFL is very fluid with free agency, injuries and age.

He wasn't an awful position coach in New Orleans. That would be Joe Vitt coaching the LB's.

What’s with paying these washed up NFL coaches ridiculous salaries?

Great job locking up Bill Johnson keeping him out of retirement. What’s all this talk years ago about the Saints D line debacle ? Your talking years ago the past my goodness Tom Landry got fired in the NFL .
What he did on short notice with the D line guys was remarkable they jelled with stopping the run . Yes he deserves the money .

If O thinks he's worth that kind of money, then I won't complain. I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to hiring coaches.

We should keep Bill for two years and bring Meatball back after. ‘Bawl will have some serious Texas recruiting ties after that stint

I was hoping he’d be a one and done and then head back to the NFL

The week before the Saints super bowl me and the wife, we were dating at the time, went to the quarter for the weekend. Saturday night we’re in line for the piano bar at Pat Os and Bill Johnson and his wife walk in behind us. I had no idea who he was, I was way more of a casual fan back then, but we were mid 30s which was older than most of the crowd so we naturally started conversing with them, kind of sticking together amongst the 20 somethings. After returning from getting drinks my wife whispered to me that people were talking to him about the Saints so we figured he was with the organization and I avoided the subject not to bother him with it. Well when it was our turn at the door the bouncer asks how many, I said 2, Bill Johnson says no 4, we’re together. So we were like cool, this should be fun. So I spend the next 3 hours going beer for beer with Bill Johnson, every time I tried to pay he’d smack my hand and pull out a wad of cash, he wasn’t having it. We laughed and cut up and talked about everything other than football. I’m built like the DL so he’s punching me in the back the whole time like I’m one of his players We had a great time and then around midnight they had enough and headed out. The next day nursing hangovers at lunch I pulled out this new fangled iPhone I’d just got and pulled up the Saints organization and found him. A week later after the onside kick to start the second half there he is pulling people off the dog pile

TLDR: I got drunk with Bill Johnson a week before the super bowl

Some posters have the same tone of post regardless of the thread. Makes you wonder why they even follow LSU if anything LSU-related makes them so miserable and disappointed.
