I was hoping Rhymes would bunt. He has always shite the bed in the cws and excels at hitting into the DP.
Oh well, fielding is really what wet the bed. Errors and sleeping with runners on. A ballpark that caters to hanging high pitches. Yeah, this is baseball. Lol. Why have a fence? Game should have been 4-3 Tigers. I'll give UCLA the one warning track shot.

I am a big fan of Manieri but this 2-0 no bunt call for Raph baffled me a bit. Maybe I am missing some sort of strategy on that one....oh well, tough to win with silly errors. Lets go get UNC

The one bunt where we threw it all over Omaha, did it seem like Ross took forever to get to the ball, just didn't react quickly at all? I was kind of away from my computer and the stream quality was crap, so I might not have seen it right.

Maineri plays the numbers...period.
A .340 average, fastball hitter, with a 2-0 count = swing away according to the numbers.
Problem is you've gotta have a little more baseball sense to know that getting the runner into SP is more important

Yeah good point. Seems like one of those situations where if he gets a base hit it is genius, and if he grounds out then its an epic fail. Coulda gone either way for us, tough break on our end

I hate the no out bunt with a pretty fierce passion, but you HAVE to do it there. Just totally unbelievable.
The approach to the SP from UCLA was atrocious all around too. I bet that dude didn't throw half his pitches in the zone. He didn't have the stuff to miss bats in the zone and we just bailed him out.
Wasted a gem from Nola tonight by playing brain-dead baseball pretty much all around.
