Horrible talent evaluation.
Agreed. But not only by LSU.

Team was terrible last year. Most transfers have gone to lower programs out of SEC.
Oh, Jim. The COACHING was terrible. There was definite talent on this team. As usual, no one really developed and game plans were not crafted to player’s strengths at all.

They’ve made it clear CMM needs to make the tournament or he is gone
Do you agree with this? Or would you rather McMahon be given a 5 year extension if we make it back to the NIT?

Anyone putting this on the coach is clueless. Players are leaving all over the place.
Blame anyone or anything but McMahon. It’s really quite pathetic.
Houston is returning at least 5 players from this past year’s squad including two starters in Joseph Tugler and Emanuel Sharp. Obviously Sampson has a good framework in place but the point is he is able to retain players due to his track record.
McMahon’s track record is 14-40 in conference play and hardly any players being developed even over the course of a season. The closest might be Miller from last year. That is why they are bolting.
The difference between a winner and a loser.

And no there is no excuse anymore. Either MM figures it out and gets the talent he needs or he's gone. So no year 0 anymore. Every year is going to be year 0 in NCAA basketball from now on for just about everyone..
You’ve been one of the main ones denying this reality for 3 years
Wade was litterally saying this as soon as immediate eligibility became a thing, but you said it took time to build a program…

They do this little dance every offseason then the season starts and they do a 180 on everything they’ve said in the off season. This has happened every year McMahon has been at LSU.

Yep.
Regarding the transfer portal acquisitions:
Offseason: Look at all of these awesome signings McMahon got!
During season: He has no money to get anyone good! Not his fault!
Regarding the freshman right out of high school:
Offseason: McMahon signs a top 20 class
During season: How much can freshman really contribute anyway? You’re asking for too much! Not his fault!

Nothing is based in fact, they just rush to come up with any excuse they can think of in that moment. Problem is they create so many conflicting narratives it’s laughable and it’s gone on for years now so there’s no refuting it.

Currently have the #9 ranked transfer portal class on 247.
Last year it was #66.

This reads like a twitter bot account. Baylor lost every single player from their roster. Is Scott Drew a terrible coach as well?

Your premise is false dickhead. Begger calling out you guys hypocrisy and dishonesty isn’t negative about the team in the slightest. If anything you guys constant lying and covering for failure is the most negative thing a fan can do when discussing the team.

I simply stated facts & you called them false. It’s always funny, you know you got Madqueen once the name calling starts

No you didn’t and you’re still being dishonest about your post. It’s gotten to the point where you are unable to be honest about anything

Pass first PG needed to be sure. Givens checks that box.
slow, low athleticism, no alpha instinct, 1:1 assist / to ratio, can’t shoot a lick are unfortunately the other boxes checked. So bye.

You guys can use this to insult McMahon all you want, but this kid isn't an SEC player. He was highly rated and had a lot of opportunities. He just isn't good enough for this league. Anyone who actually watched the team knows this was a wasted roster spot.
If he wasn't an SEC player and was a "wasted roster spot" then shouldn't McMahon be critized for playing him significantly more than a guy Mike Williams, who actually did contribute for LSU the year before? Williams went from being a guy who was good enough to play in all 33 games (starting 22), averaging 7 ppg and 39% 3 point shooting in SEC play the year before, to suddenly not being good enough to play at all in some games and only limited minutes when he did until mid-February when the season was already a wash? I'm not saying Williams was an all-conf. player, but I think it's reasonable to argue he could have contributed more to a team that needed all the help he could get over Givens. It was just another in a line of WTF personnel/in-game decisions
quote:
If the spot is properly upgraded, that's actually a plus for McMahon. To me, digging in and insisting that these guys should work out would be a huge negative. McMahon is just trying to play the game of upgrading the roster each year. (So far, yes, it doesn't look like he's good at that game. But as a fan, I want to see him get better at it as long as he's here.)
Make no mistake. McMahon planned to keep Givens. But for LSU having to fight off a late push from Indiana to retain Robert Miller, Givens would still be on the roster. McMahon shouldn't get credit for essentially falling arse-backwards into trying to "upgrade" the roster as this spot when he had no plan to do so until essentially forced
quote:
Notice only Chest has stayed in the SEC, and I don't know that he's an SEC starter either. You watched him shoot, right?
You know you can be a big time contributor for a team without being a "shooter", right? He was #3 in the league in offensive rebound %. 4th in total rebounding %. He was also 8th in block %, which is pretty good for guy who is only about 6'7. Rebounding and defense matter a whole hell of a lot too.

I don't know what others said about Givens but I couldn't believe he was the best guard we could get seeing as how his stats were very bad. This was supposed to be because his teammates were so good that he didn't get to shoot but in the long run he was just a guy that didn't have SEC talent.
