I think so, maybe I don't know I don't have crystal ball.
But how it goes is pretty easy. If Lee is hurt mett takes over. If lee stuggles mett takes over. If mett does well he stays the starter.
Right On!

Believe it or not, despite what I said, I really don't want them to pull Lee as long as he continues playing well. He has earned it.
True, I just think he's on a shorter leash than JJ was for sure

ZM will start in the same way that Lee started over JJ last year.
Les Miles is still the HC. JL would have to get carried off again. And if JJ returns Mett goes to third string.
And Miles still won't care what the Rant thinks.

Wow, I created quite a stir with this question. Geaux Tigahs. Just have a feeling Mett may get some meaningful snaps this year.
Posted on 9/14/11 at 10:58 pm to tiger81
Veiled comments by Miles indicates he's no where near ready for that to happen just yet.
Posted on 9/14/11 at 10:58 pm to tiger81
I've said it since March that Mett should have taken over then (including over JJ). He's the best QB on the team, plain and simple. Our running game is good enough that you take your lumps in the first few games (which we're doing with Lee anyhow) and by season's end Mett is seasoned and your team is better.
That being said, Miles is going to go with experience unless Lee is hurt, and even then, I think the rush to get JJ reinstated would come with the quickness.

When did Lee ever start besides when Jefferson was hurt (which I believe was like 1 game)?

Do you really not know the answer to this question?
"LSU's starter at quarterback for eight games in 2008 before an ankle injury against Ole Miss sidelined him for the remainder of the regular season ... Guided the Tigers to a 4-4 mark in those starts, which included a pair of fourth-quarter comeback wins against Auburn and Troy ... Played in first 11 games before missing final two contests ... Connected on 143-of-269 passes for 1,873 yards and 14 touchdowns ... Ranked second to Tommy Hodson in LSU history for freshman quarterbacks in yards, touchdowns, attempts and completions ... Missed the second half of the Ole Miss game and all of the Arkansas contest due to an ankle injury ... Did not play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl ... Split time with Andrew Hatch during first three games of season ... Took over as the starter at quarterback for the Tigers against Mississippi State ... Became the first redshirt freshman quarterback to start a game for LSU since JaMarcus Russell in 2004 ... Named SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance against Mississippi State when he completed 18-of-27 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns ... Threw for a career-high 287 yards and three touchdowns in home loss to Georgia ... Threw for at least two touchdowns in five games - Appalachian State (2), Auburn (2), Mississippi State (2), Florida (2) and Georgia (3) ... Connected on 23-of-38 passes for 209 yards in road loss to Florida ... Led the team to its largest comeback in school history against Troy in late November ... Trailing 31-3 early in the third quarter, Lee rallied the Tigers as LSU scored 37 unanswered points, including 30 in the fourth quarter, to beat Troy, 40-31 ... Lee finished the game by connecting on 20-of-34 passes for 216 yards and a TD ... Came off the bench to guide the Tigers to their first win at Auburn since 1998 ... Finished 11-of-22 for 182 yards and two touchdowns in that contest, including an 18-yard dart to Brandon LaFell for the game-winner with 1:03 left in the game."
And that was 3 years ago.

Yes, I know the answer, it was a rhetorical question, Lee started only 1 game when Jordan Jefferson was on the roster and as starter for 2009 and 2010. Lee never overtook Jefferson as starter, only relinquished it. Regardless I think unless Lee colossally screws up he will be the starter, the coaches obviously didn't see enough in Mettenberger for a whole spring to put him higher than 3 on the depth chart so I'll stick with the opinion of guys who get paid the big bucks to make these decisions.

Wrong.
He got hurt and since Hatch had a broken leg..... JJ was next on the list.
Arkansas '08 was JJ's first start.

Lee started when Jefferson was on the roster, but after Jefferson took the starting job Lee started 1 GAME after that point. Go look it up yourself....

So what you are saying is JJ took over LEE? That has nothing to do with Lee starting over Jefferson.
Lee never started over Jefferson when both were healthy and on the roster AFTER Jordan Jefferson was declared starter.

Trouble thinking tonight? You are contradicting yourself.
This was your exact quote:

No mention of AFTER JJ was injured or in a specific year in your quote.
I saw Lee start in '08 many games.
And yeah, I know that site because that's where I got the quote from, genius.

I responded to this....Lee never started over JJ last year at all. He started over JJ once in 2009 purely because he was hurt.

You said Lee never started a game while JJ was on the roster. Now you're spinning it to make it look like he did.
And yeah, I know that site because that's where I got the quote from, genius.
I said after he had been named starter through performance not through injury, go look at my post.

See? Name a game when both Jefferson and Lee were healthy and Lee was the starter after the first time JJ started.
LEE NEVER TOOK THE STARTING JOB FROM JJ AFTER HE BECAME STARTER. END OF DISCUSSION SHEESH.

I did before I posted the last post.
Your exact quote was:
"When did Lee ever start besides when Jefferson was hurt (which I believe was like 1 game)?"
No mention of year or after JJ was the starter. Scroll up if you don't believe me.
But anyway, what's the point to your argument?
JJ isn't playing. So........
