i'm sad for lsu fans. they can't even enjoy football anymore. we can't just win. we have to win big. lsu is still in the running for team of the decade for crying out loud but you would think lsu has had 4 losing seasons in a row from reading this board.

Nah, it's more like how much fun is it to watch a squad chronically underperform, W or L? If the offense was remotely close to where it should be and moved the ball consistently everyone who has a realistic POV would be much more sedate about the horrible offense. I think the majority of us, call us whatever, are tired of slow starting offenses, and this season it is simply non-starting. LSU did not burn it up the first half of many games in 2007, either, and caught UF in a major rebuilding year, then lost to UK and AR when AR continually gave LSU great field position the first half. I would not be happy with 0-6, but barely sqeeking by inferior opponents week after week does not provide much to get excited about. If LSU had been playing powerhouses and struggled it would be understandable, based upon the schedule to date not so much. Add to this the penalties, OL deficiencies, lack of cohesiveness in executing plays/player assignments, etc. It really isn't a great product put on the field given the time and money put into the progam, 5-1 or not. The 2009 version of Crowton's O will not beat above average teams, I think we see that played out over the next few weeks if the O is not revamped. I wouldn't mind Blackwell and Hurst getting into the OL rotation, either, Blackwell seems to have a mean streak that is missing from the current group of starters.

I wonder what would happen if G Tech and LSU lined up this Saturday and whether LSU could move the ball on Tech's horrible D.

Look at UGA, they lost Stafford and Moreno as very high picks in the draft, and even with their struggles they are ranked ahead of LSU in total and scoring offense.

Exactly.

Yes.

Right on, again.

Here's the one element I could disagree. IF, and major IF, our D can continue to hold up, we have a shot against these other teams because Auburn and Arkansas simply play no defense and Ole Miss' offense is just as bad as ours, they were just fortunate to have 1 or 2 extra terrible opponents at the beginning of the year.

Exactly. And their offense is TERRIBLE. What does that say about ours? Ick...

Great post all around my man.

Well, after watching OM's D front against Bama I predict they will give LSU's O line more than they can handle. OM seems to give LSU its best effort the last 8 years or so, it will be a tough game to win.

Good post. Although I think SFP and Max and others have some great insights, their insistence on blaming it on "Les ball" I think is far off base.

i'd rather les ball than this abortion we've seen this year

I predict half of the opponents left will be more than LSU's OL can handle. Really, what game did LSU OL handle the DL. Probably the GA game was the best against a decent opponent and GA's defense is down this year. I can see Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss for sure giving LSU problems on the OL...maybe not Tulane, La Tech, and Arkansas whose defense is down this season.

les needs to make a hire like the OC miami guy

simple offense with multiple looks and creative play

plus les has just been a failure at line recruiting while at LSU (both sides). stud is shite

in '01 and '02, ohio st fans wanted jim bollman drawn and quartered. how did '02 work out for them? last time i checked, they had a case for team of the decade. guess who is still the coordinator there? you're just not catching on to the whole idea of every team complains about the playcalling.

Ohio St fans STILL want Bollman gone. Tress is too loyal to him, and it's effecting our OL play and offensive philosophy. Our O is nowhere near as good as our D and ST are this year (and really every year, besides the Troy Smith/Ted Ginn/Anthony Gonzalez/Antonio Pittman years [05 and 06]).

yeah, it's starting to seem that way. i think he's had some hits... and some of the boots were unfortunate.

you think stud sucks? seems like our lines under him the first two years were pretty good.
