Critics of the offense can't see the forest for the trees...(2009-2012)

2009
Avg yards per game = 304 (112th nationally)
Avg points per game = 25 (76th nationally)
Wins = 9
2010
Avg yards per game = 341 (86th nationally)
Avg points per game = 30 (45th nationally)
Wins = 11
2011
Avg yards per game = 355 (86th nationally)
Avg points per game = 36 (17th nationally)
Wins = 13
2012
Avg yards per game = 442 (42nd nationally)
Avg points per game = 39 (20th nationally)
Wins = ____?____
Do we have concerns on offense? Certainly. Liabilities? Certainly. Do we need an offense that can score 50 per game? Certainly not. Our offense has consistently gotten better each year since 2009 and appears on the path, despite its minor growing pains, to be improving again in 2012 with a dominant run game and capable QB. Let's all be patient, watch this offense continue to grow and see where it leads us. Based on the trendlines above, it's not a crazy bet that the ____?____ can be tentatively filled in with a 14. LSU most definitely can ride this defense and an improved, adequate offense to another national title.

Don't hit em with facts- they're busy looking at the sky falling.

Level of competition should be considered thus far this year.
Though I do think our offense is better than it was at any point last year.

Our offense was damn near perfect for the first 8 games last year with much tougher competition.

Exactly...O is better. D is quickly getting to last year's level. Clean up bone head mistakes and we will be just fine!

Certainly, although I'd be shocked if we ended the year with an avg yds per game less than 375ish/400 this year, which would certainly fall nicely on the upward trendline.

I honestly think the only major weak point on the offense is the WRs
Seem to be lacking some consistency there

The problem was uncharacteristically sloppy play Saturday night against an Auburn team with its back against the SEC wall. We kept them in that game with drops, penalties, and fumbles. We got the game we expected with Florida two weeks early when we went to Auburn. I will be concerned if the mistakes are not fixed, but I expect them to be down to Mett's first SEC road trip and anxious players.

Critics of the offense are simply Miles Haters. They will find fault regardless of what the team does. The fact that Alabama and their "God" Saban as coach, more closely resemble the LSU team than any other CFB team. Stats are are so close it is funny. But we have offensive problems and Alabama does what it does best. Funniest shite ever.

FWIW...current year:
LSU 442.0 Yards per game
Bama 425.0 Yards per game
Just sayin.

Agreed...my concerns are the oline pass protection and wide receiver inconsistency. I also think we need to do a better job of punishing teams with some screens/draws if they blitz 1 or 2+ guys.
Run game and Mett are fine. I expect the passing game to continue to improve as the seeason goes on.

quote:we have a bunch of fricking stone hands out there. And our arm chair coaches are fricking retards. A caller yesterday on the sconeman was trying to blame Mett on the pass to Shep because he threw it over the top instead of to the hash. the ball hit Shep in the fricking hands and there wasnt much contact by the DB. its sheps fault.

Great post when we remind rantards of actual facts.

No it wasn't...we had very inconsistent QB play.

Taking trends completely out of the equation, people just need to accept that Les Miles is never going to do more than necessary to win.
It can be frustrating, and I think sometimes he puts too much pressure on the defense in the process. But save a couple of games over the last 3 years, he's had success doing it.
