Combined with 3 years at LSU, plus a pressure packed postseason run, baw is literally in mid-season form already in the pros. You might say, he’s got things on…. Crews control…

Dylan Crews is such a beast. Can’t believe we got to watch him work, learn and grow for three whole seasons at LSU.
Very pleased that he won a Natty before he left. He truly deserved that and all the accolades he’s accumulated as well!

Dude is an OBP machine. The pros are going to love that and his hit tool will only get better as he gets the reps.

This is probably a dumb question, feel free to dunk on me accordingly:
Is the single A level better than SEC college play? Like Crews and Skenes moving up pretty much immediately, did they see better comp here at LSU?
I don’t really understand/appreciate the differences in the levels of minor league baseball, I’ll hang up and listen.

Crews and Skenes saw better players in sec play than single A ball. That’s just a fact.
It will obviously get tougher and level off. as they move up

Question: When a player is sent to the Bigs from a farm team; does this mean someone on the active roster has to be sent down to the farm?

How likely is it that Crews gets hung up waiting for a roster spot to open up? I suppose, if he continues to “show out”, they’ll open a hole regardless. Would this be a plausible assumption?

I doubt they’ll rush him up this year. My guess is he is given an opportunity to earn a spot in spring training and never looks back.

That’s a good question. The level of college play is higher the last few years than usual IMO. The Covid year draft was messed up and so more high level players than usual went to college than to the minors. Also NIL brings better high school players to college than usual. The pitching at the CWS was absurd. Never seen so many college pitchers throwing over 95 mph.
To answer your question, in the past most people probably thought SEC was close to high A. May be getting closer to AA for now. Will see how all the draftees fare

Back during the CWS Kyle Peterson and cronies rated college ball to single A minors. What might make that valid is that half the college players are probably lower than that. The college stars are definitely much better than that but how much they raise the collective competitive level of the whole group is debatable.
I personally think that the post season teams are in the AA level with some AAA level talent sprinkled in.

They saw some players above what they saw in single a. They also saw an absolute shite ton of players that were worse than what they saw in single a.
The spectrum of talent, even in the SEC, is too wide to say that it's definitively better than any level of the minor leagues. The first two innings on a Friday night might be like High A or Double A, but by Sunday it may be no better than Complex League.

We had players that played significant roles on a championship team that aren't even getting Indy Ball opportunities. We have some that are struggling in Low A.
And we were the very best team in the nation this year.
There is no reasonable way to view that and think that even the CWS teams would be able to compete in AA.

you definitely don’t wait for a roster spot to open for your first round pick.
when Crews is ready they will prompt him.
also the Nats OF is pretty weak.
4 guys on the active roster. 2 hittinf .200 or below. not a ton of power from anyone.

A player of Crews caliber will not get "hung up." Especially when you consider the Nats don't have the dudes in the OF to hold him up.
Crews is the greatest player in LSU baseball history. I think he will cement that legacy with a great pro career as well.

How many stolen bases did crews have in his entire career at lsu? My guess would be under 30 which is nuts
