According to who? A recruit who was going to Bama from the moment he was offered? Please.

You probably also believed that Buggs went to Bama because we didnt have an Offensive Coordinator too.

You are naive if you don't think other staffs are using Pete Jenkins' age against LSU on the trail. Impossible to quantify the effect it had on recruits, but the seed is being planted.

certainly it is

Os record as a head coach as well

We are rounding into spring with a new OC, new LB coach who has never been a position coach in college. No WR coach, no ST coach, no RB coach and a 75 year old part time DL coach.

Good times

AT reeled in 2 of the top 3 recruits in Tennessee, 2 5-stars at that (according to some recruiting sites)! Rather have Mathis and Wilson or Phillips and Jacoby Stevens? ....I'll wait! But I do believe it was an even trade off

I think Austin Thomas was on the road filling in for the open ST position. Not recruiting for old man river.

recruits are definitely swayed by uncertainty of the program as a whole.

Its been stated otherwise. CEO was given extra visits and permissions since we had a ST void. Not to mention guys like K'lavon mentioned on several occasions how Jenkins was one of the reasons he chose LSU

I was still young but I remember a friend's dad talking about all of this. Didn't Pete have his own radio show back then?

This is completely false. o was not allowed extra visits. That used to be allowed if a staff was short handed but the NCAA changed the rule. That is why Meatball was sent on the road. LSU had the full allotment of allowed coaches on the road.

The only oddity is Austin Thomas was given a waiver to recruit for Jenkins. meatball took Peveto's spot.

Craig firing?

CEO is starting the process with the wall......He is going to get 2 guys that can recruit their arse off in the state! You cant have WR go and GS at Bama when you have a full ride at LSU!

You still want your d line coach to be with you for more than 1 year. Yeah great Austin Thomas is good at talking up a guy to come here, but number 1 priority for these guys is their development and their coaches

Great in theory, but how many schools can make the statement a given assistant coach will be in place next year. There are too many factors involved.

The current players were effusive in their praise for Pete Jenkins and what they learned from him in half a season. That should count for something if the recruits are paying attention.

This is what I've learned.

A lot of people go out of their way to defend coach eaux and his boys, and at the same time go way out of their way to bash Les and anyone associated with him.

Basically we end up with a lot of bullshite.

Then you aren't a very good student.
The program was in descent with Miles. He had to go. Brick was a crappy d-line coach. Peveto sucked goat arse. Cameron was a disaster.
We don't know what O can do so most are giving him the benefit of the doubt. We can be reasonably sure that he will maintain the talent pipeline. His model will be to hire top notch coordinators and let them do their thing without being meddlesome.
The loss to Florida was a blemish but we shot ourselves in the foot too many times after dominating most of the game (statistically).
The team played with more energy and purpose after Miles was canned. The offense, while still saddled with the Miles/Cameron scheme, performed better.
O doesn't get a pass if he doesn't produce on the field.
Miles had become laissez–faire in his approach. That is antithetical to O.
One thing is for sure. O is not standing pat. He is on the move.
See how it plays out.

given that we were down a coach on staff with BDP gone, couldn't Austin have been filling in in that spot instead?

Yes, If this was the plan to fire coaches right after NSD, why didn't we keep BDP on staff and let him geaux today?

Would Wilson have signed with the Tigers if BDP was still on staff?

Umm fans wanted Miles fired in September of 2005. Less games in than coach O.

It's pretty freaking clear people are going great lengths to support coach even when he's made bad decisions.

On the other hand, people are posting complete bullshite to attack the character of Les Miles. The guy who isn't even our freaking coach anymore.

It was time for Miles to go. But Ed O should have never been hired as the head coach.

Why do you people keep having to say "Pete Jenkins is a legend? Honey badger is a legend, Billy Cannon is a legend, Pistol Pete is a legend, if you have to explain to someone that they are a "legend" then they are not a damn legend.
