Does anyone understand what went on with Craig and why he had to be fired? What does Oregon have to do with him being fired? Also what is this Pete Jenkins rumor I don't really understand what his position is and what he did wrong/bad for the program?

Jenkins is too old to recruit and will retire soon. Hurt with Mathis and Wilson.
Schools are smartly negatively recruiting LSU with that

This isnt true, at all.
Jenkins does not recruit because it allows GM Austin Thomas (a 247 sports top 10 recruiter) to go out in his place. We are literally gaming the system.
Mathis was always ALL Bama. He would have only gone to LSU had Bama told him they didnt have room. He tried to deflect the heat by blaming it on Jenkins.

You still want your d line coach to be with you for more than 1 year. Yeah great Austin Thomas is good at talking up a guy to come here, but number 1 priority for these guys is their development and their coaches

given that we were down a coach on staff with BDP gone, couldn't Austin have been filling in in that spot instead?

Orgeron was allowed extra contact/visits to make up for not having a coach on staff.
Like I said, we are gaming the system so our best recruiters could go out more.

We. Lost. Recruits. Because. Jenkins. Wasn't. Contacting. Them.

That ain't gaming the system. You're way overthinking it.

this and ask those of us (like me) old timers about pete and Mike Archer, the 89 team took drama to a whole new level...fight on team plane back from UK loss, internal strife, Archer back stabbed and the man behind the curtain was...Pete...not that he was THE cause of the demsie in the late 80's (he was not), but he was not loyal when perhaps he should have been....a legend I get it, but time to move on from him...

You are naive if you don't think other staffs are using Pete Jenkins' age against LSU on the trail. Impossible to quantify the effect it had on recruits, but the seed is being planted.

He's already retired multiple times. Pretty easy to recruit against that.

This is what I've learned.

A lot of people go out of their way to defend coach eaux and his boys, and at the same time go way out of their way to bash Les and anyone associated with him.

Basically we end up with a lot of bullshite.

That was an excuse, a justification used by Mathis. Jenkins was not designated as one of the Off Campus recruiters, meaning he could only interact once a player visited or if the player called him. that let Thomas go out to recruit. It gave LSU a chance to get a much better recruiter (Thomas) out there and also let Orgeron get a few more visits. They believed the reward was worth the risk. And truth, Mathis was caught up in the Bama dazzle and was not gonna come to LSU.

He can't directly contact recruits because he isn't listed as off campus recruiter. They have to call him and from what I understand, and they all had his number and could call him whenever they wanted. Orgeron hired Jenkins to fill a spot because of his expertise with the defensive line and his ability to teach young players quickly. He could be waiting for the perfect guy to hire and is just fine letting Pete (who is a legend) coach the guys until he finds someone up to his standards for D-line coach. Being as he was a d-line coach himself, he probably had a high damn standard of what he wants out of a D-line coach and Jenkins is the reason for that in the first place. Jenkins had the d-line playing out of their minds at the end of the year and to me, that's more important than one recruit who was never coming here in the first place. He just decided to act like a bitch and blame something that doesn't exist instead of owning up to the fact that he just wanted to go to Bama. Devonta Smith went to Bama and he wasn't a little bitch about it. He just said that's where he wanted to be.
