At this point, the only thing that would be received well would be for him to say "I quit."
That I agree with....I would dance a little jig.
I mean is it not a coach's job to fix issues with performance?

Kentucky is the one SEC team that I've watched hardly any of this season. Very little of Mizzou and A&M, too, but I'm very unfamiliar with Kentucky.
That's okay though, because you aren't paid over a million a year to be familiar with them like the guy being interviewed is.

say that you don't have the answers to how to get the players to hit better. That's your job and how does that make the players feel when they hear that?
Hopefully it sparks something in Eddie Smith

Yes, and that's the over-arching point I've been trying to make. I see too many threads complaining about what he has to say. I honestly don't give a rats arse what he says. I only care about what happens on the field. If he fixes that, no one pays attention to his sound bites. If he doesn't, everything he says is placed under a microscope. Winning always fixes everything. The problem may very well be that he is incapable of doing that anymore

He’s relying on assistants & volunteers to get the job done
It’s not happening on any level

I know. I was trying to change the subject to Kentucky.

My opinion is turning on getting rid of Mainieri mid season. I wouldn't hate making Smith the interim. He's the only guy on staff that's actually run a program before.
I would absolutely hate making Dunn or Cain interim HC.
I also think that since we aren't UNO, the likelihood of someone going from volunteer assistant to interim HC to permanent HC (the Blake Dean model) is minimal.

Well maybe he should quit hiring yes men that he's coached in the past and hire some actual good coaches that can figure out how to maximize potential and solve issues with players.

I'm just not ready to leave the subject of how underutilized some of the resources provided to the coaching staff are.

Here's the interview if anyone wants to listen. The whole thing is 16 minutes, but the stuff that's really being discussed is about halfway into the interview.

Especially since he insists on pitching Marceaux on Friday. If Marceaux could pitch on Sunday and get >1 run of support, LSU may win a few. As it stands, Marceaux pitches a well and gets wasted because the Tigers can't hit the opposing Friday night starter.
So LSU has lowered it's standards to not pitching your Ace on Friday (conceding the Friday night game) in the hopes of our Ace beating the opponents #2 starter on Saturday.
How far we have fallen under PM. I've been saying for year's, that he should be fired and getting bashed for it. At least now the general public is warming up to the idea.

What practices were you watching because those things virtually were barely touched on a daily basis?

And posters here say that he somehow “deserves” to be able to finish the season. He’s a joke and, because of him, so is our program.

Why would the interim matter?

well, at least he's not under investigation.

Because someone should be fired in 2021 doesn't mean it was time to fire them whatever year you said he should have been fired. History shows that every coach eventually reaches the end of their ropes. That doesn't also mean that prior statements years ago are completely validated. No program in America would fire a coach that went CWS runner up, regional, super regional his past three seasons. It took Augie Garrido missing the NCAAT 3 of 5 seasons and a losing record his last before he was forced to resign at Texas.

what would firing him mid-season accomplish? You think we would win more and salvage the season with Dunn or Cain stepping in? And it could very-well backfire. What if we finished strong and the admin tried to hire one of those guys as HC? I'd prefer knowing we'll have a real coaching search after the season personally.

Because of our incompetent athletic department.
Any tiny bit of success would be used to justify not going through a real search and making a lazy hire of either of the two morons currently occupying the paid assistant spots. It's why I previously stated that getting rid of Mainieri mid season was a bad idea and could actually make things worse in the long run.
But I'm just real fricking tired of Mainieri and am warming to the idea of getting him out sooner rather than later. He's already shown this year that he's pretty much physically incapable of performing his job. He needs to call it quits on his own but he won't because he's stubborn.

Because there may not be much of a search depending on who is named interim HC

There's really no lineup we have that would have worked against Vandy.
Maybe not, but going strictly on defense mexx as not we would have yo shutout Vandy to win which was less likely than us scoring two or three runs IMO.
But Vandy was way better, we saw that, They pitched better, hit better and were more fundamentally sound. They took us to school. PM included.
