Jaden Hill threw off the front of the mound and “looked like a Major Leaguer,” Paul Mainieri says.
He’s scheduled to throw a full bullpen session, but Paul is encouraged by what they’ve seen from him
#LSU

Devin Fontenot will start tomorrow night against UNO.
He didn’t pitch against Arkansas and needs the work. Not auditioning for a starting role, per Paul Mainieri
#LSU

Cole Henry went home to Alabama over the weekend and threw, but no real update yet as neither Paul nor AD have seen him today
#LSU

Jacques Doucet

We have a great week this week and then do well at the SEC Tournament, we're right back in the conversation to host an NCAA regional. #LSU Paul Mainieri.

#LSU Paul Mainieri says the Tigers are 17-13 vs Top 50 (top quadrant) teams. Only four teams have more wins vs that group and they are all in the SEC.

That sounds like very encouraging news.....forgive me if I curb my enthusiasm though.

That seems strange all the way around.

This is going to annoy some people.

I'd really like some more context to this.

Thanks for update.

I hope he can get a quality start tomorrow. We’ve seen him go 5 strong innings before. So maybe he will show everyone he could play that role if needed.

Pretty sure that Monday is their NCAA mandated "off day" so that would explain why they hadn't seen him throw. It's still weird, however, that he'd be shut down by the LSU staff and then goes home to Alabama and threw there.

Henry seems like a Grade A head case.

It further highlights that Paul and Alan have no idea what they are doing with their pitchers.

If they knew that he went home to Alabama and threw I would have expected they would have called him on the phone first thing this morning (hell if it wasn't Mother's Day id have thought Sunday.)

It just seems weird on several levels.

God I hope Fontenot can get his head right. When he's on, he's electric.

Specifically that he has no structural damage, yet doesn't want to get hurt. Once that doubt creeps in its hard to flush.

I’m going to guess since school is out & he didn’t travel with the team he went home to visit since I am 95% sure they take Mondays off from practice

I could be very wrong about all of the above, it is worded very weird

Can they have contact with the player on the mandated “day off”? I don’t know the rule.

It’s not weird that he’d go home for mother’s day weekend, and it’s possible (likely?) the team wanted him to throw over the weekend. I’m not going to jump to conclusions since we lack any real context.

I don't think it highlights that at all without more information. Maybe Paul and Alan are more cautious with players than the players believe they should be. I don't think that makes anyone right or wrong. But I'd also hate for a situation for a pitcher to take it upon themselves to do something that causes further injury. I'm hopeful we don't have another Jake Latz situation on our hands.

#LSU Mainieri says there was a team meeting before the second game vs Arkansas game and some things were said. Some people may look at 11-6 loss and say Tigers played poorly, but Mainieri felt they played hard and played well.
