Ah so blowing 3 saves of 4 means he’s great lately? 1 against one of the worst teams in the country? frick off

Jay is seeing what these players have in the tank before they start playing in the post season. He knows what he's doing unlike some on this board!

Mayers
I would have given him a shot. Cowan obviously didn't have it. And Mayers last couple outings have been promising and he looked un hittable in them.

Rizzy. Williams. Anybody but Cowan after we all saw how the 8th went
He didn’t fool anybody. Everything was hit hard. I’m not saying for sure that someone else would have worked. I did however know that Cowan WASN’T going to work. That was my only point. You gotta get him outta there

Gotta wonder if Jay had a reason for it. It could have been to see if he could fight thru it needing him down the stretch. Or letting him work out of the funk he's in. It could be several things at play. Unless we lose all 3 games this 1 game shouldn't hurt us with seeding etc.

Evans is the closer.
Cowan should have started.
He is burned for the weekend now should have let him have gone that long.
The idea is get him in game 1 around 30 pitches and the game 3 the a same. Rest game 2
But that idea has been shot to shite the second half of the season.

How is Cowan starting this game any better? The pitching did fine and Cowan got lit up.

They don't seem interested at all in pitching Cowan twice in one weekend.
That seems pretty clear to me.

Yeah that's who I want in the game in a 1 run game on the road.
With bases empty? It’s a good choice.

Jay has made beyond questionable pitching decisions all year. If you ever vocalized on here, you got CRUSHED.
Absolutely INSANE he let Cowan go back out and then continued to let him pitch. The baserunning blunders were not on coach, but ultimately we lost because of his mismanagement of the arms (again)

Cowan didn’t need to start. But you bring Evans in in the 9th. He mows that team down in 15 pitches. He could also pitch Saturday
Posted on 5/16/25 at 5:23 am to TheRouxGuru
Agree. They were making solid contact from the minute he went out.
Posted on 5/16/25 at 5:32 am to TheRouxGuru
Cowan looks like a guy that has zero conviction in his pitches right now. He’s missing over the heart of the plate too much when he’s behind and not competitive when he gets ahead in counts to put hitters away. To me, lack of confidence is his biggest issue.

Well, LSU is #1 in the nation.

Has zero confidence right now.
This is the #1 thing with most closer/relief/starters. Confidence is everything, and especially as a closer. I don't know if he can turn it around in a few weeks, and if not, hopefully we have someone beaming with confidence that can fill the role. All it takes is one good outing to start regaining it.

Leaving Cowan in waaay past the obvious yank time made me thing CPM was coaching our team.
