I think you’re right, he won’t get hired back here. As far as the situation with him here at the end that’s been beaten to death and the false narratives surrounding it have managed to filter into and poison every conversation about it so I’ll skip that. The real problem wasn’t firing Wade it was hiring McMahon. He’s not capable of consistently competing in this conference and no amount of money is going to change that. When Wade was fired we also let go of the only two basketball people in the administrative office. What we need to do is hire someone who has a long term vision for the program, who can identify a coach to execute that vision and can consolidate as many local recruiting luminaries as possible to build a foundation for this program. Just firing McMahon and taking another shot in the dark isn’t the way to go about fixing things.

yeah i agree with all of that.

Wade is a good coach

he isn’t the ONLY good coach

we could go hire one of those guys.

100% agree, you can find another guy to win here but the method we’ve used since Dale retired isn’t a good one. Thats what needs to change.

But, I wonder what would have happened if they had stretched the process out until after NIL started

I think that is what some of the other programs did but they were not in the Title IX debacle LSU was. LSU was facing “Loss of Institutional Control” level stuff and just needed some problems to go away.

My only problem with that is it hasn’t been proven, unless you just take the word of the administration, that LSU hasn’t been spending the money needed to be successful. And increasing it this year is just pissing money away and possibly alienating your boosters that put up their money for another subpar product

Some of it may just be PR and perception going into the possibility of a new hire after next season. The administration certainly doesn’t need the market perception to be that they won’t dedicated the same resources to NIL that other programs in the conference are.

We probably both group each other with certain types that we don’t necessarily fall into. I understand why he was fired, mostly I just disagree with certain posters characterization of his coaching ability and our success while he was here. If you go back to when Wade was fired my reaction was “ok let’s hire someone good to replace him and my reaction to hiring McMahon was simply “frick” because I’d seen his teams play, mostly to watch Morant and I knew where he comes from which was a failed Tennessee coach prior to Pearls tenure there.

He is not a great coach lol. He is a pretty good Xs & Os coach that is an elite recruiter.

A lot of yall are trying to put Wade up there with the Bill Selfs of pure basketball coaches and he’s just not.

to show the NCAA that we were ready to get it right. Simple as that.

To show what? A year later it’s the Wild West with players getting paid millions.

Let’s give them years of no post season play for paying players. But here’s your 12 million Mr Bryce underwood. How hard you think they were going to come down on lsu. They are a complete joke now.

And now we stuck with McMahon doing a self imposed ban on postseason play all on his own.

The idea that Woodward struck a secret deal with the NCAA when most ADs had realized that the NCAA is feckless, is not the suave move people think it is.

I guess because Wade is having success at Mcneese and McMahon has had a disastrous year at LSU that some believe Wade is the answer. And others will see it this way as well including NC State possibly. Statistically, if both teams were playing in the SEC or there same opponents this would be true but that’s not the case.but this rational should help Wade obtain a better job than Mcneese st. Wade seemed to be a better recruiter while at LSU but wasn’t his recruiting what got him in trouble to begin with? I recall many here claiming Wade wasn’t very good at X s and O s. Some act as if this guy was a national championship caliber coach. He is not. He may be better than Mcneese but isn’t LSU material. LSU hires coaches that win National Championships. In football baseball gymnastics track and field women’s basketball and sooner rather than later men’s basketball. It’s coming and it ain’t Wade.
