Seems to just be something they can hold over LSUs head in the future.

That is the clarification I'm looking for.
Is the vote on IF they CAN kick LSU out OR is the vote TO kick LSU out.

That’s how I understand it as well. It’s not a vote to kick out LSU, it’s a vote to give the SEC the power to kick out LSU if they want. Which they somehow are not able to do now. This entire things seems like a sitcom, Kiffin and Sankey have to be just putting on a show to force Congress to get involved. Like this makes no sense

My understanding is this is a vote that says they CAN kick LSU out. It really doesn't matter if it is more than that because obviously court cases will be filed either way. I don't think enough has been said about what ESPN could do to the SEC. LSU in 2025 during a bad season was the 6th most watched team PER TV broadcast in college football. Only AL, TX, GA, OSU, and OU had more viewers per televised game. Even Notre Dame isn't above them...guess playing Rice and Navy aren't real draws huh?

No one knows. But we all know it would be a colossal mistake by the SEC to vote and implement.

I disagree. That would mean LSU would have to agree to this as well. And I don't see LSU agreeing to being a punching bag just to give the SEC more power.

Seems like the vote is to give commish authority to expel LSU if xyz occurs in future, not understanding that it’s a vote to expel period

We could have dropped the whole issue instead of having our Governor and AG act like children... Lane could have been corraled by the administration.

Seems like there would be a process that must be followed and there has not even been an investigation.
There would have to be a due process arguments here

It’s a vote to kick LSU out.
The request for a restraining order is the one that seeks preliminary protection from the countersuits that would inevitably occur.
But if they do vote that way, LSU will litigate and at minimum request stay immediately.

If they did it they’d give it an effective of a year away in order to hold it over our heads.

This is what Ive been looking for the answer to for the past few hours. Initially when I saw this story break, ESPN and the Pete Nakos talking about it. It a made it sound like the SEC wasnt directly voting to remove remove LSU. But more voting if they would be willing to remove LSU basically if Kiffin and LSU kept pushing back on this.
But then I get on here and its a total shite show of "FINEBAUM SAYS HE KNOWS FOR A FACT LSU IS GETTING KICKED OUT OF THE SEC ON THURSDAY" or people saying "they wouldnt have this vote if they didnt know they were kicking LSU out"
So now I went from thinking it was more a vote of the SEC being unified on the idea of if LSU does play the players, they would be willing to kick them out. To the vote being to actually remove them or not on Thursday? Im lost on it now.

He was. He has complied with every rule and request not to roster professional players.

Don’t give them that chance. LSU should remove itself; quit the conference. Put the SEC on notice that they are getting the f*** out. Enough of their shite.

Why would the SEC not already have that power?
