This post is absolutely true. If we lose to Bama, our chances at the playoffs is very, very remote.
Clemson, SEC champ Bama or UGA, Oklahoma, and the Big Ten champ are getting in.
Basically, our entire season comes down to Bama. But we all already knew that.

We're talking about sports writers here. They typically decide in the preseason which teams are the playoff contenders and those teams stay put until they lose. Clemson hasn't lost and has the recent post season history, so I didnt think the writers would bump them again.

My thoughts exactly. Alabama has not played much less beaten a ranked team yet they are ahead of us? This goes to show that the poll is simply a beauty contest. Pollsters don't care about strength of schedule or quality of the wins.

I think the ranking has to do with the quality of loss.

Notre Dame lost a close well-played game on the Road to the then number 3 team in the country. Georgia lost to a 2-3 team at Home and played horribly. The ranking makes sense if you watched both games. By the way, this ranking is exactly consistent with the Coaches poll which also has ND rated 2 spots ahead of UGA !!
