Was it just me, or did he give amazing insight?
Posted on 6/22/09 at 10:29 pm to sertorius
i could do without him talking about how he asked his teammates what pitches they could see in the shadows 10 times a night but other than that i like him.

Yeah, pretty funny that he knew Mikie couldn't hit Workman's fastball, and then he throws him a shitty 12-6 curveball that didn't drop. Best insight of the damn game.

He is a genius in terms of a pitcher's perspective. The people on here who complain about who does the ESPN commentary are fricking idiots.

He pretty much nailed it with the last pitch that got thrown to Mahtook. The guy thinks allot of himself, but knows his shite when it comes to baseball.

Actually, yeah, I enjoyed his comments. I usually do anyway. Ventura on the other hand..

play by play guy SUCKS arse. Theyve got to drop him next year. He can't get number of SOs or HRs right yet he wants to try color...pitiful

I think his insight into the pitcher's thinking is fascinating. I don't know that most are as thoughtful as he is/was, but I think he is really good in the booth. Ventura had some good insights too.

i enjoy listening to it, beacuse he knows what the hell he is saying....With that said, why in the hell did he throw a curve ball?

Orel has been awesome the entire series.

He's great at teaching mechanics and correcting errors. Just look at the great job he did with the rangers staff.

dude, mike patrick has the best call in sports

This just in Orel is pretty good at what he does. Really points out a lot of stuff you average baseball fan isn't aware of

McDonough > Patrick
I think McDonough got demoted for being sick earlier this week.

Toward the end everyone was screaming to shut up. Don't need lessons when it is so exciting. Need to see the crowd cheering! Sort of kills the moment.

I didn't really like Ventura and Orel as the sole analyst in the previous games, but they were great together tonight. Patrick still blows as play by play, though.

They all talk too much! Thank God we get the count at the top of the screen.
Posted on 6/22/09 at 10:35 pm to sertorius
Orel should write a book how how to scam the game by bending the rules... I thought that ESPN was focused on teaching the game ... now they are teaching how to bend the rules... Great thing to teach the kids

all CWS he has been great. I was talking to my FIL about this and he agreed that Orel is great.
Tremendous insight and slightly amusing. Plays well against patrick.

+1 - Unlike most on this board I have enjoyed listening to him and have learned a lot. His call about Mikie was icing on the cake.
