re: We've never lost a Championship game yet

That's cause Ross pitched ho hum usual tonight as he does most of the time. Green's good, but he walks a lot of people. It also puzzles me to see this:
19 starts, yet he's 5-3. Getting decisions out less than half of his starts, not sure what to make of that. Also, he won't go more than 6 tomorrow, so Workman,Dicharry, or Wood will make appearances (all threw over 30 pitches last night), with a minute chance of Ruffin

How is UT's bullpen good to go? The "almighty" Austin Wood threw 42 yesterday, obviously Jungmann's done, Dicharry and Workman threw 30+ each. I suppose Shinaberry's going to magically dazzle us tomorrow, given the fact that he's only pitched nine innings this season.
UT is not in better shape than LSU as far as bullpen. Ranaudo needs to be vintage tomorrow.

re: Any numbers on Green?

Ruffin's the number one...Jungmann is better than all of them though. He's been insane against anyone except Rice this year. Tonight should have been no surprise, although Ross & Co.'s "performance" was disappointing to say the least.
re: I mean, really, who hasn't learned to trust PM -- STILL?????

Seriously, Coleman should have been pulled. This BS about not walking people and "only" giving up solo shots is idiotic. UT was driving pitches deep and they were on to Coleman's act. It was time for a pitching change in the 4th inning. Luckily CJ rolled in and mowed em down.
Augie also screwed his team...I understand pulling Ruffin for a situational lefty-lefty matchup with Wood against Mitchell, but Wood has been complete shite in the CWS, letting LSU back into the game just like he did with USM in the first game. And we obviously saw why Workman and his 97 mph fastball aren't a part of the weekend rotation for the Horns...absolutely no control.

Yeah, pretty funny that he knew Mikie couldn't hit Workman's fastball, and then he throws him a shitty 12-6 curveball that didn't drop. Best insight of the damn game.
Pitching Coach/PM both brain dead?
Posted by jamesdean89 on 6/22/09 at 8:50 pm
Seriously...are they so etched in their gameplan of sending Ranaudo/Coleman out for 7-8 innings, and then bringing in Ott that they cannot deviate and pull Coleman in the 4th inning? There's a reason that nearly every UT hit/out was a deep fly ball...Coleman was locating his pitches exactly where each batter liked them, and was rattled. Incredible lack of confidence in the bullpen, Coleman should have been done in the 4th. Hopefully LSU can still win this thing, but the blame for any potential loss in this game has got to go on the retarded coaching moves.
re: Texas 0-5 this season vs Rice!

UT just played very careless ball against us this year. Plus we smacked Jungmann and Dicharry around; although Jungmann is insane against anyone else.
If UT makes careless defensive errors like tonight, LSU will have absolutely no problem with them. After watching LSU effectively handle Rice in BR, there was little doubt in my mind that they are going to win the whole thing. Good luck Tigers.

Ditto. Gotta put UT in their place.

Virginia had an awesome postseason and definitely deserved to be in Omaha.
All that aside...this Owl fan says "BTHO UT!!"

re: Congrats from Rice

It was more of a reloading year, not to make anyone feel sorry for us. We just got snakebit with one of our freshmen pitchers needing Tommy John surgery before the season, then Berry and Ojala being out for six weeks. Both of those guys never had one of their "vintage" games after their injuries, and just didn't really impress me going into the regionals. We also need some guys in the bullpen to show up, as well as our starters to go 7+ innings like y'alls do. That's where you guys are better IMO. You have two excellent starters that are different in their pitching styles, but that can go 6-7 innings, then you have a setup man, and then (at least from today's performance) a lockdown closer in Ott. We just couldn't really count on having Berry or Ojala go for so long, and then our bullpen chumps all have location or mental issues haha.
Good luck on Friday/Saturday, and beat the f*ck out of Ole Miss/UVa (I can understand why y'all hate those Rebel fans; what the hell has Ole Miss ever done athletically?) and especially CSF.

Congrats guys, you definitely had a better team than us this year. I can only wonder what would have happened if we were a national seed and didn't have to face you guys this early. Probably would have gone to Omaha, but our team isn't talented enough this year. Coleman did what he had to do, wasn't insanely on the money, but he worked us and won the game nonetheless. I'm looking for y'all to win it this year, as long as Ranaudo and Coleman are on the money, I don't see you guys losing. Rebuilding years suck, but we'll be back next year, as the draft won't hit us nearly as hard as last year. Again, congratulations.

tigermike2004, you aren't exactly refuting the "human garbage" comment about LSU fans. Guess there's a couple dead crawfish before the boiling in every batch though, huh?

Very accurate assessment of Rice tonight. Our bullpen blows and Rendon should be in the majors. Ho hum.

Ah Tulane...the one bastion of higher education in Louisiana, holding up a crumbling castle of LSU inadequacy.
re: whats up with rice's catcher
Posted by jamesdean89 on 6/5/09 at 10:21 pm
Yes, he's been like that all year. Been a f*cking liability. Ojala always throws his 12-6 curveball in the dirt, Diego just hasn't grasped the concept of dropping your knees and letting the ball bounce into your chest protector, instead of ricocheting off his knee pads. His defensive performance tonight was maybe a tad worse than usual, but no real Rice fans should have been surprised at his catching "performance" tonight.
