Off-season work has helped LSU's Mike Papierski evolve from backup to potential leading man

I'm excited to see him develop. He's going to be a very good player for us.

That's good news. We need his bat to come alive this year.

Think that is too high. We probably belong in the low to mid teens.

On Collegiate Baseball's list? I am curious why LSU should be behind...

11. Mississippi St. (24-30) 469
12. Cal. St. Fullerton (39-25) 467
13. California (36-21) 466
14. Oregon (38-25) 463

in a 2016 preseason poll.

Well we lost 8 of our 9 starters from last season's team. LSU is traditionally ranked high in collegiate baseball.

Higher than I would've thought, considering everyone we lost from last year. I really don't know what to expect out of this team, but especially early on, our pitching will have to carry us.

We have one of if not the best pitching staffs in the country. We lost a TON offensively but I think our pitching will be able to carry us.

We have a very good staff. We don't even have the top staff in the SEC though. Florida probably has the best staff in the country.

maybe if Latz would be available. but, without him, I don't know if the staff could be considered the best.

The poll attempts to compare 2016 LSU to other 2016 teams, not past LSU teams. They have a bunch of teams with 20+ losses in the 10-15 range. It is probably safe to say those teams have as many, if not more questions than LSU heading into 2016.
