Making my first trip to Aggie land this weekend and looking for recommendations? Are there any good bars to visit before the game?

do not bring any pets and make sure you have no LSU stuff visible on your car.

The Republic is swanky steaks and booze. There’s a bangin hot dog place near campus called Dat Dog. Napa Flats is good mid-range pizza / pasta. Great burger joint called Hoppdoddy.

It’s a wasteland compared to Baton Rouge, though. Frick this place.

nb4: get in, go to the game, get out, nothing to see/do there, minimize time there

Just go to Northgate (the bar area on the north side of campus). Get a deathburger and cheese fries at the Dixie Chicken, do some shots at the Dry Bean saloon or drink cold Mexican beer at a Tacqueria, and walk the short distance to the game. Plenty of other bars and grub places in Northgate if the above isn’t your thing.

Don’t listen to idiots saying negative stuff, it’s pretty fun on game days and as long as you don’t walk on the grass near the MSC the Aggies are generally friendly. North gate has a bunch of bars/restaurants including the famous Dixie Chicken, Dudleys Draw is cool, they have good sandwiches and cheap beer

the famous Dixie Chicken,

really? if Der Weinerschnitzel sold beer it would be a better place to pre-game at

Anywhere you see a grassy area on the campus, feel free to set up a picnic and lounge all day. They provide those areas just for that purpose.

As long as it’s not the Memorial Student Center grass, feel free to picnic. Thanks for respecting our tradition of honoring Aggies that have given their lives in time of war.

Napa flats and Cafe Eccell are pretty good.

Blue Baker is a good cheap sandwich and pizza place. Good bread and cookies and stuff too.

Koppe Bridge has good food.

Fuego is really good. Mad Taco is good.

The new HEB at Jones Crossing off Wellborn is the nicest place if you need groceries for tailgating or whatever. It’s open 24 hours.

RX Pizza in Bryan has great pizza and a cool atmosphere. Downtown Bryan is a nice play to eat and walk around if the weather is good. Otherwise Bryan is a garbage dump. It’s the Hammond of Texas. Stay in College Station, which is actually really nice and clean these days. SEC money has made College Station a lot nicer than it used to be, but that money apparently hasn’t made it to Bryan.

C'mon man! You're making us other NorthLA guys look bad.
It's "Are there", not "Is there".

We can just ignore the "at" part. It's not as blatantly obvious.

Its a fun road trip. If you get there early park at north gate and hit a few of the bars there. Then start working your way to the stadium. Tailgating isn't like LSU but everyone is friendly and respectful.
