I don't see how Bama is rated higher than LSU. Won't matter though when LSU beats the DUCKS they will jump to #1 anyway.

Neither do I..at least we have a very experienced qb..they go in with a guy who has done so-so in mop up duty and is a freakin RS SO. and they are still ranked top 3? Haha.

Bama will probably suffer another south carolina-esque loss again this season to temporarily remove the media's mouth from bama's ballsack

I like their top 3. Looks really good at the end of the season when you beat the #2 and #3 teams. That will leave OU at #1 when we play them for the title. When was the last time any team beat the #1, 2, and 3 teams in one season?

People are so focused on the next best thing that they would rather throw a first year SEC starter in the mix than a three year vet. I don't think JJ is a great quarterback but experience carries a lot of weight in this conference and we really just need to run effectively and play good defense. I think we can do that.

Our schedule is brutal, but I've always felt it was hypocritical to rank based on schedules, as it serves as a disincentive to actually schedule tougher opponents. ESPN is the first to devalue your team with a weak OOC but also the first to downgrade you based on a tough schedule.

With Robert Smith and SMU crybaby father on the set it should make for an interesting segment of some LSU hating.

Unfortunately, they will forever err on the side of Saban over Miles, even with a quarterback that has yet to take a meaningful snap or have a known #1 at quarterback.

Doubt it as well but the winner of that game should jump to that spot. Otherwise, it just goes to show how absolutely worthless preseason rankings are and how they can do more harm than good.

I think OU is deserving of the top spot because they're the team with the least quarterback questions. That alone places them atop for me. Alabama in the top 5 is fine, but #1 would be ridiculous.

Boise at 5 is a joke too.

I can save y'all the time and sum up that shite in one sentence: It all depends on our QB play.

LSU would be number 12 or higher if we lost the same amount of people at Oregon and Alabama lost. This is bullshite

The lack of respect Les gets compared to Saban is frustrating. Les has an .800 win percentage and 11 wins in 4 of his 6 years at LSU to go along with a national Title. Saban would need to win 11 twice in a row to just match it at Bama. Les is also 2-2 against the guy whose statue was erected 15 year prematurely. Also, Les would be 3-1 possibly if Perriloux plays in 08 at Tiger Stadium.

Saban is so overhyped; a great coach to be sure, but overhyped. Why they continue to call this guy the best DB coach, I don't know. Name 1 DB he has gotten drafted that lived up to potential. Maybe Corey Webster, and that's it. My Bama friend said they did an article on players Saban has had drafted at his 3 schools and he was surprised Corey Webster was the only DB he has heard of. Well, Webster and future bust and overdrafted CB Kareem Jackson from last year.

For Bama's season, Dont forget to go along with QB which reminds me eerily of LSU 04 under Saban, 2 new starters on the Oline. Barret Jones moving to LT and a new RG where Barrett use to play. This to go along with a new TE to replace Preston Dial, and no one named Julio Jones at WR to serve as a decoy in the run game or make the play on the ball to keep the chains moving. They also lose a former Heisman winner in Ingram. If anyone else lost this much talent and leadership on one side of the ball, that team would be ranked somewhere around 5-10.

The media does what they do and salivate over Saban. All this preseason hype they are getting is because Bama beat an undermatched and very average Mich St team in the Capital One Bowl. It reminds me of when Bama rolled Florida last regular season, then the media were claiming they were unbeatable, only to lose 3 times. I think LSU's demolition of A&M is way more impressive, especially if you consider TM7 was screwed when they took his TD off the board. That would have given LSU 48.

Bama is a good football team, but losing as much talent and leadership as they did on offense and the number of question marks on that side of the ball makes their preseason ranking as high as it is flat out absurd. Dennis Dodd wrote, Bama doesn't need a QB with this defense. That could be the dumbest thing ever written. One, everyone needs good QB play to win, and Two I am not convinced Bama has a defense to that scale better than LSU, Nebraska, etc..In other words, sure they have a great defense, but so does other teams. Good Offense certainly helps create good defense as well.

Well UGA is an anomaly next year. I think they'll be good as their DC has another year to get the players in line but they need serious improvement in several facets and their offensive line woes can't continue regarding injuries.
