Alot of coaches and teams yell family we have a family atmosphere..But how many of them hire former players??? To me it seems like Coach O is hiring analyst/former players that will eventually roll into position coaches which is absolutely amazing...I can image Pat P within the next 5 years coming back

I think it’s great to bring people in who are passionate about the program. This idea that LSU can hire anybody they want is pretty silly. O has to hire people that will be loyal to him or else he will become unable to control them (see Canada situation).

The formula doesn’t fit for all coaches, but it seems perfect for someone like O.

I love O bringing in former players but it is funny how you people praise O for doing this but will turn around and bash PM for doing the same thing.

How many coaches/analysts can be on the football team?

How many coaches can the baseball team have? Those hires had better REALLY count.

All coaches hire guys that they are familiar with. O tried to make the splashy OC hire while not knowing how Canada operates and it bit him in the arse. It’s not about control, it’s about compatibility

I'm all for it as long they are the absolute best available for the job. Screw hiring former players just because they are former players.

I get what you are saying, but baseball is a different animal all together...

Dont they all? Ed orgeron was a former player and was hired to be the d line coach and recruiting coordinator. Ensminger was hired to be the te coach and help with recruiting. Raymond was hired to be the DB coach and has sent several guys to the nfl.

As long as they are more competent than what's available, its a no brainer

There’s a big difference in the number of coaches so in baseball your coaching hires are much more individually important. One bad hire can have a major impact on your season. A bad hire in football outside of coordinators isn’t likely to have a large effect.

As long as they are good and can coach, go for it. Don't hire the family if the family ain't no good.

Canada had Danny Etling running his offense is what doomed him.
