Saban’s had the better roster in every game he’s coached in for the last several years.

ETA: and a deeper pool of coaches to work with given his small army of analysts and quality control assistants.

Absolutely.

Clemson didn't even do much to surprise Bama on offense, the Gumps just couldn't stop them.

And he hasn't lost more than 1 regular season game since 2010

Typo. My bad. Yes, Saban has had FAR better talent to work with than Dabo. Not even close. And Dabo STILL slobberknocked him in the Natty. Could Saban be losing a half-a-step?

Probably not. He had a bad game. It's football. It happens.

I'm not one that can ignore the entire season and say that the Clemson game is the one that proves what Saban is right now.

Would it surprise anyone if they won the NC this next season?

IMO I don't think it's a big enough sample size and as I said I think Dabo has his program at the level to where he can best any team on a given day.

I was simply responding to the idea that it was arguably his best team ever and at the same time he may be losing a half step. Again, to me it's just a testament to how good of a job Dabo has done.

And yet here you are. This thread somehow continues to suck people in.

Same deal when Cardale Jones clobbered them in the '14 playoffs. Bama's weakness is defending a against the passing game (when the opponent has a decent rushing game to keep Bama honest)

Most defenses have trouble defending teams with great passing and running games.

He's lost 21 games in 12 years at Bama. And six of those losses came in his first year. Sickening to think about.

Solid observation

I’m just saying. It’s been stuck on the first page for like a week now. 150 pages in, and I haven’t seen anyone have their mind changed yet

Captain Obvious in the thread today.

As smart as that guy tries to pass himself off to be, that was really a stupid thing to say.

Have you ever seen someone change their mind on a message board? The more evidence against one's point of view, the deeper the heels dig in.

A bunch of stubborn bastards around these parts. We had some relatively rational back and forth last night if I recall. Not many people are going to change there minds at all I don't believe unfortunately unless there are some overwhelming results one way or the other that can't be ignored.

Are you expecting someone to change their mind?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Dabo is competing mano a mano with Saban *and all others). And Dabo has been doing this for the past 4 straight season. I think that there is a strong argument that Saban is no longer the best HC in college football. And Dabo is.

So, either Saban has "lost a step", or he was never as good as Dabo is now.

Saban is greatest at leveraging Bama's resources to exploit loop holes in the NCAA rule book. He's the greatest since, well, Bear Bryant.
