They haven't slowed down at all. They just played a really bad game like all teams do. When's the last time they have lost 2 games in a row? When they stop recruiting like they are then they will slowly begin to fade but that has not and will not happen anytime soon

I don't disagree with a thing you just said. They had one bad game. That's all it was in my opinion.

Now if Bama starts losing 2 or more games a season starting next year, the notion of Saban losing a step or slowing down can be debated. Until then it's just nonsense.

I'll believe the're slowing down when they stop having 12, 13 and 14 win seasons and stop going to the playoffs every year.

Depth is great in a season, but with nothing after this game I bet You each side played probably less than 44 players.
No way.

Clemson's snap count for 2017 showed 52 players with 100+ snap count - another 12 had 50+. And that was just O & D. Some duplication on special teams but you can add at least another 15 players with significant snap counts. More like 65 to 70 plus.

1. That’s 2017, I’m talking about the 1 game Clemson played Alabama in the 2018 season
2. That’s the full season not one game.
3. Like I said, depth is important in the season. If everyone is healthy you aren’t player 28 guys on offense. You’re playing 5 Ol, 2-3 RB 4-5 Wr 2 TE maybe and 1 QB until junktime.

Clemson doesn’t need to be three deep in any one game. If you have rotational depth, like guys you can bring in to give certain players a rest, you’re good for a game if people stay healthy

Clemson was missing 1 started at their deepest position.

If that were the only measure then you'd have a great point,

As LSU fans...which you're not...it's the only measure we ought to care about in regards to Sabam and BAMA.

Unless of course we get some sort of de-facto credit for living vicariously through Clemson that I don't know about...

Typo. My bad. Yes, Saban has had FAR better talent to work with than Dabo. Not even close

What are you basing this on?

Recruiting rankings? The same ones that you say are horribly flawed?

He’s basing it on recruiting rankings and ignoring the actually players who played in the game.

I think these guys might want to start backing away REALLY QUICKLY from the argument that coaches should ALWAYS beat teams they outmatch with talent...or otherwise the winning coach is clearly better than the loser based on that one game.

We want to go down that road, cause that will surely get this thread to 300 pages.

Having way better talent to practice and compete against matters as well

It’s just a dumb position to ignore that Clemson wasn’t as deep but was still had amazing talent and enough of it to compee with Bama.

They were so far behind that having the best player on the field at QB wasn’t enough. There is a reason franchise QBs make more than everyone else.

We could go down the Troy road and things will get very ugly very quickly.

Really. Most people had Tua as the better QB. Did the Clemson'd QB get invited to the Heisman ceremony? Why not?

And you're numbers on playing time are low - A quick look at ESPN's box score shows Clemson used 7 WR's, and and no way did Clemson use only 5 OL. You're making stuff up... again.

Just admit the painfully obvious. Dabo is now a better coach than Saban. Beat him 2 out of the 3 last times they played for all the marbles.

Either Saban has lost a step, or Dabo is better than Saban ever was.

[Love seeing all the Saban fan boys get triggered]

I can't remember who said this earlier in the thread so my apologies for not knowing who to give credit to, but if the O sucks/O is a God conversation can mostly stay here then that's probably a good thing.

Count them in the Alabama game

35 players with 10 or more O/D snaps.

And that’s just 10 snaps.

Do you believe that Dan Mullen is for sure a better coach than Orgeron? Or do you think he's gotten the best of him with less talent the last 2 years and we need more of a sample size to make a definitive statement?
