And that's still not ad bad as saying that Miles would still have been fired even if he had won 4 national championships in a row. People can't make an outrageous claim like that and then expect others to take what you seriously.

I have to apologize, Jeaux. I didn't remember exactly what you said or maybe I misread it last night. Here is what I was referring to...

Miles pissed off the billionaire boys club. He woulld have had to win 4 Natty's in a row to overcome that )if even then)

So, it wasn't exactly as I said. Sorry about that. I was heavily medicated yesterday.

Hyperbole. My attempt at humor. But with some truth in it.

I think Saban was half a step slower in 2018, and will be another half-step slower in '19. If LSU can get a few favorable bounces, '19 could be a hell of a season.

Half a step slower based on what?

Saban's 40 time. He was 4.28 in '17 and couldn't get under 4.3 in '18.

Perfect.

He was a step slower last season and shut us out 29-0 in Tiger Stadium? Yeesh.

He had no answer to Clemson.

Maybe Clemson got better?

This idea that he's slowing down is a curious conclusion to reach when people were talking about that team being his best ever before that game.

You’re ignoring the entire rest of the season.

Clemson was better.

But he hasn’t really lost a step. He’s retooling the entire staff. I’ll believe it when I see It.

Not so curious... Arguably best team ever, and destroyed by ACC Wunderkind Clemson? That sounds like coaching issues to me.

I think most rational college football fans would find the idea that Saban's lost a "half step" or whatever to be a strange take.

Lol

It was one of the more dominant regular seasons he's had as a head coach. Yeah, they got worked in the national title game but I'm not sure where else you could be getting this notion that he is a "half step slower", whatever that even means in the context of a coach.

So you came to the conclusion that he's slowing down based on the result of one game vs a really good team?

Based on the fact that they beat every team they played by 22 points or more during the regular season.

Then, when the SEC Championship Game and the playoffs rolled around, and they played the 3 strongest teams they faced all season, they only beat Georgia by 7, Oklahoma by 11 and got throttled by Clemson by 28.

They played close, tough games against teams that went 11-3 and 12-2. And got beat by a team that won 15 games.

That's gotta be why Jeaux thinks Saban's slowed down.

Personally, I'll believe Saban and Alabama has slowed down when they stop winning 12, 13 and 14 games a season, and stop going to the playoffs every year.

To me this sounds like arguing against yourself. If it's arguably his best team ever then that means he hasn't lost a step at all and rather that Dabo has gained a bunch of steps and gotten ahead. I just don't see how one can proclaim Saban's best team ever is him slowing down.

Correct. Overwhelming talent advantage to everyone in the playoffs.

Even Clemson.

His secondary looked awful and his offense looked unmotivated. Reminded me of Urban getting blown out by FSU in his last year at UF.
