Coach O hasn’t said much about Emery in practices

Coach is just laying the trap for the Texas longhorns. Emery is lightning quick with great hands for a runningback. Look forward to the Tigers messin’ with Texas.

He’s saving Emery for the secret playbook.

Emery and Davis might not shine until october. its really hard for first year backs in the SEC. It took Fournette the Florida game his freshman year, Hill the USCe game his first year. CEH the La Tech game last year. You could even go back to Justin vincent in 2003, Shyrone Carey was the man then Vincent stepped up the last 6 games and dominated
I think CEH will carry the team early on especially against Texas but by Utah state I expect the two freshmen studs to step up and we will have an elite and complete RB corps

Emery must be bad at sports

From CEO’s presser it sounds like Fournette will play a big role in the offense.

Based on what he did last season and the fact that the spread helps gets speedier players out in open space, coach Ed Orgeron believes Fournette is set up for a breakout season.
“He’s got some stuff out of the backfield in this spread that fits,” Orgeron said of the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder. “He’s really catching the ball, running the ball well. … He’s going to play for us this year and play well.

Clyde will be our go to back this season

They will shine in August. It will be obvious how talented they are. If they know the playbook and can block even decently, they will shine alot

Yet first year backs and players at other schools have no problem dominating. Like the freshman running back, Travis Etienne blasting Bama.
Best back should play and they should be ready at that position.

CEH is more than capable

I don't think this coach is going to rely on a freshman for the first time in a high visibility spot like Texas

Fournette was nothing to sneeze at as a freshman, hell, his best bama game was as a frosh.
We need to have a guy that can take it to the house from 50 yards out, like guice and fournette.
Especially if we struggle in the red zone this year, like we did last. For what it's worth, I don't think we will.. The differences in the offense this year are very conducive to a condensed field like the red zone is. The rpo with the slant to the slot guy, like bama did with Jeudy last year is a good way to score in the red zone. If they load up and shoot gaps then we just throw it behind the linebacker. Also, there are a lot of natural picks with a short passing game..
But I want Emery getting 10 carries week 1. He needs to feel out the college game before a big time opponent shows up. I just want to have the big play potential against Texas.
His pass protection skills, mentally and physically, along with his receiving skills need to be tested against ga southern. If he can do those things then he will play a bunch vs Texas, if he's not great at either then he shouldn't get the majority of the carries.
A young rb typically has the most trouble with pass pro at first. May not sound like much, but even one missed assignment can lead to the sack fumble turnover that's the difference in the game.

quote:Well O has always said the best player will play regardless of age. I mean, I don’t believe it because he basically says one thing to the fans/media and does another but I’m holding out hope that Emery is just too good to keep off the field.

Etienne's first year was 2017. He had one game over 100 yards, totaled 766 yards on the year, and ran it 4 times for 22 yards against Bama.
