Why mainieri gets paid the big bucks if gamble pays off he's a genius for allowing a great senior hitter hit also if he lays the bunt down and the next 2 hitters come up and get out how many people would of been bitching about bunting raph just my opinion it's how society works today wait and see outcome then grip about it

Wow what a sentence

It was very effective

I didn't say it wasn't effective. Doesn't make it a good idea to keep throwing up 88 mph fastballs over the middle of the plate. He really got lucky.

Ibarra was a slight breeze away from being a superstar tonight.

Or at least a better baseball to go with the shitty bats.

After seeing the shots Ibarra hit I say throw BP fastballs up in the zone the rest of the series.

He did a great job. LSU hitters couldn't lay off the high fastball outside the zone, and he kept throwing it.

Ibarra got under his long ball, had he hit it squarely it would have gone. Pitcher did a great job throwing junk the lSU hitters couldn't stay away fro.

The college game has definitely changed for the worse. I hate seeing these guys square one up and have it end up nothing but a long out. The Oregon St. kid deserved a walk off vs. MSU too. I hope they find a way to even it out just a bit.

THIS. If UCLA were swinging at those pitches and popping them up constantly, I'd tell Nola to keep throwing them.

We can whine about dead bats, the ballpark, lack of wind, etc. Championship teams adapt and find ways to make it work for them.

Game 1 of the CWS is no time to "gamble". That shite is for midweek games in march. Call it 20/20 hindsight or whatever you want, but in that situation you play by the book. I hope maineiri had fun pretending to be rainman because now we have serious issues

Changing the ball, going to the MLB ball would help.

My dad and I were saying the same thing during the game.

It absolutely would. I hope they make the change. As much as I love college baseball the game has gotten really boring.

I bet this happens. Seems the most cost effective method.

dumbass. GFY

Not the coaches fault. we had one inning to score one run against a great team. i didn't see it happening.

It was in the 9th inning. Any coach would gamble. We don't make those errors and we win.

It almost worked.

That UCLA coach gambled on that trick play and it didn't pay off.

It's the errors that hurt us. It happens in baseball.

I think it would help but I still think games in Omaha will suck. I don't think it would make a significant difference.

The bats are terrible. They want them to perform like wood but they don't.

No, they don't at all. They have, roughly, the same size "sweet spot" but they don't have the same pop when you square one up. When you grove one with wood it goes a LONG way. It's not the same with the BBCOR's

If the balls had tighter stitching so there's less drag as it goes through the air, they'll soar. Like MLB or even minor league baseballs.

If they were using those in tonight's game, those 2 hits from Ibarra would've been in the stands. We would've had 3 HR's.

But, we have to focus on the present. No more errors, please!
