Yep. I thought about him or dare. I say Eddie Furniss. Just nice easy swings.

Loved this stat: Coach said LSU won every game Riley Cooper played in, leading the country. When asked about improvements he wants to The Box, the first thing he mentioned was he wants an indoors infield practice facility. He did mention moving the bullpens for safety reasons but that comment was in response to being questioned about it.

I am assuming this was just the NCAA tournament because I know they at least lost the first game Cooper pitched (the Iowa loss) and the last game he pitched before the tournament (the loss to Arkansas in the SEC tournament).

I loved the morons that called for Cooper’s head during the season. Multiple times I pointed back to 2022 and his performance down the stretch. Cooper will be missed.

Throw in players like Shores and Noot returning from injury that may contribute later in the season and you potentially have a really good pitching staff.
____________

Possibly Noot, but unlikely Shores pitches next year. He will be a beast in 2025!

Normally, I am in football mode by now. Primary reason I am still thinking about baseball: Jay Johnson! He will prove to be the Savion of college baseball. He might surpass Skip in nattys!

We are so lucky to have him.

Johnson reminds me of Mulkey, Saban and other well organized leaders that are relentless. BUT he has to prove himself to do it more than once. That is the key if you want to be compared to those much less tGOAT. Keep in mind that tGOAT AND CPM BOTH still mentor him. He has to do it with ONLY his players as well. That is the mark of a GOAT consideration and to be put into the discussion with those aforementioned.

What is the future like for Jones?

Dude had a great start to the season, then just tanked.

And his summer showing was meh.

Freshman sometimes hit that proverbial wall and teams figure them out. He did scream a shot up the middle in Omaha.
Think about it, all 27 on the roster played in Omaha. That is great experience for the younger guys.
