Les hired both of them....

Ed is our best recruiter too. It would suck to lose him. LSU coaching is complicated right now.

The 2011 defense was the best I have ever seen in college football.
And Chief was the DC.
Players can make a avg. DC look great
just like a great QB can make an Avg. OC look great.

In DAVE we trust.
He's essentially treated as an equal with the HC, like Venables and Dabo or Bud Foster and Beamer (now Fuente)... the formula is working.

Have you actually ever played the game of football? I don't mean touch football in the backyard or in P.E. class, I mean, real football. The gritty, head-knocking, bloody, bruising, gut-wrenching kind of football? Because if you had you'd know and understand just how ignorant the statement you just made is.
I love statements that start like these. I'm sure I never played at the highest levels of the sport like a gridiron gladiator like yourself has, but I played a mean game of badminton back in the day
quote:
If Aranda leaves, it's simple, next coach up!!! There's too much talent in the state of Louisiana for any coach to not succeed at LSU.
What a ridiculous statement. Has LSU ever not had top level play? Is there talent in the state of Florida, Texas, California? Why aren't those teams playing top flight football every single year then?
Since you are such a football legend from your playing days, did coaches never help to guide or inspire you to reach the mythical heights you achieved?
Why do Hall of Famers list their coaches going all the way back to pee wee leagues? Why was LSU's defense so much better in 2016 than it was in 2015 with basically the same group of players?
Sure, there are coaches that could do as well or maybe even better than Aranda is doing. But not EVERY coach could. You have to identify the right coach that is the right fit. O didn't do that with his first OC hire, why should we simply assume he will with his first DC hire?
Anyone that thinks this train will simply continue chugging along after Aranda, and many of these same players you insist are the REAL reason for the success, must have played too much "gritty head knocking" football like yourself and may need to be evaluated for CTE

If you want to be negative about something, at least have a clue what you are talking about.
I'm waiting for the badminton thread to show my expertise

Why don’t you just come out and “admit” that no matter what Orgeron does it’ll never be good enough.
If LSU wins a national championship with Orgeron and Aranda, O will absolutely deserve credit for it, and I'll celebrate it. That doesn't mean he'll be able to do it again without Aranda. That's why I said until he successfully replaces Aranda, which he will 100% have to do at some point in the very near future, I will still have my doubts he is the LONG TERM solution this program needs.
quote:
All he’s done so far is win against heavily favored opponents.
Is that ALL he's done as coach of LSU? No losses in games which he was heavily favored to win? Do these three weeks erase all past performances when evaluating his tenure?
quote:
LSU could go undefeated through the Alabama game and negative O haters will keep moving the goal posts back.
You mean like Miles did in 2015, three weeks before he was actively being ousted?
quote:
You’ll never give O his due credit. Cowards
I'll give him his credit, as well as the marks against him.

Well if Coach O wins a natty before Aranda leaves we will all know where you stand
And if he doesn't?
If he does, I'll stand in celebration. Then what about when Aranda leaves? Will that one title mean he can never be questioned as HC again? Because Les Miles may take issue with that idea.
My comment was simple. Aranda is a huge part of this team's current success, and past failures btw. Until Orgeron is tasked with replacing him, it remains to be seen if the success can be replicated without him.
Crazy idea, I know.

You are so funny. No matter what good things this team does you can not let go of your hatred for Orgeron.
Your blind obsession is comical.
I do not hate Orgeron. I doubt him, yes, and have never denied or tried to hide that. I've also praised him when it was due.
Your blind obsession with attacking anyone that voices any concerns, no matter how reasonable, is pathetic.
ETA: Anyone else??

He was already hired. How did O hire him again?
You can't be re-hired unless you actually left your place of employment.

You have a short memory or you haven't been observing football fans very long.
Hell there are fans that were glad Saban left.
They still think they know football. They criticized Jimbo when he was here.

Les Miles won a NC here and look how much he got shite on.
And you're angry because people aren't ready to suck off O after going 3-0? Miles did that most years.

Then why didn't Aranda beat Troy and State last year?

One thing normal everyday people hate is being under-utilized. Put that into a competitive sport, and it's 1000 times worse.
Orgeron utilizes Aranda to the maximum; the part that makes it such a great relationship is that he utilizes him by both letting him run his business and listening to him.
I was worried there would be bias of the "old school" coaches, including Orgeron, vs the younger innovative Aranda. Aranda had to deal with some of that (Alavarez mainly) at Wisc.
The opposite is true.

What is your point here?
Are you arguing that Aranda is not a big part of our success at the moment?

Les Miles was the one that identified Aranda and brought him to LSU
He also hired Meleveto, Steele, Chavis, Peveto twice and a string of great OCs after Jimbo got tired of his BS.

I really, honestly love Coach O and I really hope he is successful here; but I'm also skeptical that he will be without Dave Aranda on staff (if we had any other DC, we're NOT 3-0 right now).

That's interesting because Miles first interviewed Aranda in 2014 but passed him over to hire Kevin Steele. It wasn't until Steele left after 1 year that Miles called Aranda back in 2015.
