Thanks for all the suggestions. I hope it's a night game but we'll have fun regardless. I'll check back in with you all as the game nears. Best of luck to you this season. Hopefully, both Tigers will be 7-0 come October 26 and 8-0 on the 27th.

If it's the 2:30 slot, get tickets on the home side. I went to the Auburn game 2 years ago and it was the hottest day of the year (to that point) and the away side was piping hot.

I have family in New Orleans and have been there many times. Have never been to BR so gonna spend the weekend there instead.
Most of the suggestions you'll get here are for food and drinks, but here's some of the things I enjoy doing when I go back to Baton Rouge and you might enjoy as well.
Head over to River Road by downtown, park and walk out on the levee. Lots of things to see like how huge the Mississippi river is, how tall the Mississippi river bridge is, the USS Kidd and the museum, plus the casino boats are right there. If you want a better view, go up in the Old Capitol building to the viewing area at the top. Great views of the city, the river and you can even see Tiger Stadium from there. Lots of hotels and places to eat/drink around there as well, but it's not close enough to the campus to walk.
Closer to campus is the Magnolia Mound plantation and museum. It's not the biggest or prettiest of the old plantation homes in the area, but it's close to campus and is pretty cool if you like that kind of history. Oak Alley and Nottaway Plantations are my favorite, but they're an hour or so away and not sure how much time you'll have. Another thing I like to do around campus is drive around the lake. The road goes by Sorority Row and some of the Fraternity houses overlooking the lake. It also goes by the Old Governor's Mansion and other nice homes on the lake. This road around the lake is where I used to jog around the lake since it's great views of the campus and you'll see lots of people walking/jogging/riding around it even on game day mornings.
I also like to drive around campus and look at some of the beautiful architecture on campus. The campus is pretty spread out, but there's a lot of the old buildings that have been renovated and look great (there's also some buildings that need help still). The campus will be closed to vehicle traffic on game day, so you'll have to walk if you don't get there the day before.
On game day, I stop by Chimes and eat and then go next door to the Varsity. The varsity is a place to stay cool, drink beers and watch other games that are on that day. Then from there you can head out to the tailgates. If you wear your Clemson gear and let people know what you're there for, you'll be invited to most every tailgate you pass and offered food and drink.
As you walk around, go by the old outdoor amphitheater where the band warms up before the game. Then walk by the Indian Mounds and down to Mike the Tiger's habitat. Then find a TAF member that is walking up the ramps to the Dome and ask them if you can go inside the dome with them. Inside the party is great because it's air conditioned and they offer free beer. Then the band comes in and plays to the TAF members in there and the sound is awesome with a full band inside the dome. After that, walk outside and watch the Band and Team walk down the hill and check that out. Then make sure to get inside the stadium early enough to see the Pre Game show.
After the game, find a tailgate and just wait out the traffic. You sound too old to enjoy a place like Tigerland, but if you like to get drunk and get in a fight, head over there and party. Hope you enjoy your trip.

BTW, just curious but what do LSU folks think about the Gamecocks and their fans?
They're in the other division, so we rarely play them. And since we rarely play them, there's no animosity built up between the two fanbases, so we honestly don't give them much thought.

I'm assuming you are in your 40s/50s? Are you looking for a fancyish meal one night? What kind of drinks do you guys like?
If I were you....
Stay downtown. Very close to campus, and some things to do in the area.
Go to Chimes Friday night. Get there early though, like 5. Even then there might be a wait. They have great food and an awesome tap list. BBQ Shrimp poboy.
After Chimes I would look to hit up some bars. Unfortunately there is nothing really in that same area. If yall are okay with ubering around town or someone driving... Bulldog will have a great crowd of people all ages, cool patio and atmosphere for a beer bar. Olive or Twist will also be packed with people all ages, its more of a cocktail bar. Radio Bar is great, and will be packed with hipsters. Most everything else will be downtown by you. Happy's will be slammed with people 21-25ish, but its a cool bar to go to even if you are older than that. Tsunami is probably worth visiting just for the view of the river, its by far the best view in BR. Bengal Tap Room is probably my vote for most underrated bar in BR, I really like that place, good tap list and TVs everywhere.

Honestly most of us like them. They haven't beaten us since 1994, so there is really no animosity towards them. We enjoyed inviting a bunch of them over to our tailgate when they came for the game that got moved to BR for flooding in Columbia. I know its not what you were hoping for, but I thought they were alot of fun.

Wasn't looking for a specific answer, was just curious. I live in Charleston and many of my good friends are Gamecocks. In fact, I probably have more friends who are So Car alums than are Clemson alums. We give each other grief throughout the season but all in good fun, especially with the success we've had the past five years.
I attended Clemson in the mid-90's when Tommy West was the coach and a good season meant 8-4. Never thought we'd see a run like this so I'm enjoying it as long as it lasts and trying not to take it for granted.
I have put all the suggestions into Notes on my phone. Again, thanks for everything and see you guys soon. Go Tigers (X 2)?

My tickets are in the NE corner. I concur. We were roasting for that game.

When you know exactly how many tickets you need let me know. Always enjoy helping people who make this a bucket list trip.

CBS will have enough commercials to make it Saturday night in Death Valley by halftime.
