It will be none of those guys. First, O year isn’t losing his job this year unless we go 6-6 or worse. Second, the replacement would likely be a youngish coach making waves at a middle of the road P5 team - a guy with good character (rules out all three of these low lives) and good recruiting skills.

I’d take Lane and Petrino over O.

If a change has to be made this year I could see Alleva walking into a meeting with board members and saying “Sorry about that, I’ll get it right this time. My top three choices are Jerry Sullivan, Meatball, and Jack Marucci”, just before he’s told to gtfo.

PJ Fleck would be highly interested.

No doubt - O keeps his job at 6 - 6. LSU cannot afford to keep paying millions upon millions to former coaches that Alleva either never should have hired or given powerball extensions.
Alleva needs to go immediately then let a new AD figure it out

LSU waited too long (should have done a legit search at the end of the 2015 season and let Miles go then), and now outside Gundy, there are no real possible game changers. The guy at Memphis is a name to look out for, that I am high on, but there aren't even any other up and comers so far.

Alleva has already made it clear that the goal is to be competitive NOT to win championships.

I'm not a huge O supporter, but you can't fire a coach after two years, unless we go winless or something. What message does that send to other coaches that you are trying to attract here?

This is such a stupid fricking argument.

No decent self respecting successful coach would put themselves in the same boat as a career DL coach and abject failure in his one shot as HC like Orgeron. Period.

Everyone in the country knows the deal. We gave a hometown clown a shot as his “dream job” because he was “one of us” as a discount experiment while the Miles buyout tied our hands. He was hired to recruit and let coordinators do the real coaching. If the experiment worked great, if not we move on to a real coach once the buyout situation became more manageable.

Of course, our dumb frick AD ruined that by paying competitive salary for a guy that no one was competing for, but the fact that O was always a trial that could be cut loose at any moment has always been understood.

Guys like Gundy, Kiffin, Fleck, Fuentes would never lower themselves to O’s level by thinking what happened to him could happen to them because they are talented and successful head coaches not career cheerleaders that are also talented salesmen to dumbass ADs prone to temper tantrums that drive their hiring decisions.

When the LSU job opens up again, there will be plenty of interest, and honestly the sooner it happens the more interest there will be because it will minimize the damage O can do.

The wins don’t anount to shite if you’re not competing or winning some form of titles whether it’s the West. Sec. Or natty.
I've been saying this for years now. 9-3, plus a win in a shitty bowl, doesn't mean much if our 3 losses are to Bama, Auburn, Florida, etc.

3 SEC losses means we're not even close to getting to Atlanta, which is the first goal.

Raw win totals don't mean much - we need to be in the mix for the West most years.

18 straight seasons with 8+ wins. If he fricks that streak up in year two it will take a SECCG appearance, minimum, to stick around

He broke another 18 year streak on his 4th try. Last non conference home loss was in 2000 to UAB. Potato got past Southern Miss, Chattanooga, and Syracuse before squandering that to Troy. And 15 years since we've had a recruiting class ranked below 14. Orgeron reset that in his first full cycle. The 8 win thing is on extremely thin ice.

I don't see how everyone doesn't realize he's going to set LSU football back for a long long time.

Kiffin is a game changer. You want to see Nick pull his hair out, hire Lane

Up and Comers
Fuente
Neal Brown
Norvell
Venables
Fleck
Jeff Brohm
DJ Durkin - watch how good he has Maryland going this year when they don't have 3 QBs get hurt

It's like some of you are hoping LSU has a bad year just because you want a new coach when Orgeron has not done a bad job at all. LSU is not going to fire Orgeron because a handfull of malcontents on Tiger Droppings are unhappy. That is laughable.

stop pretending like you know what people want and don't want.

no one, and I mean no one, has actually said on tigerdroppings "I hope LSU goes 3-9 in 2018 so the BOD can fire alleva and fire Orgeron."

if you can find me that quote, I will venmo you $100.00, no questions asked.

“Leave my coach O alone!”

—-
Nobody wants LSU football to fall on its face this year. Everyone here would love O to take this team undefeated and win a NC. That said, those that aren’t blinded by their fandom recognize that O is a shite HC and that isn’t likely to happen.

This whole, “they just want LSU to fail so they can be right and get rid of coach o!” argument is pathetic.

No, I don't see a 4 or 5 win season and that's what it would probably take for him to be fired after year 2.

Keep in mind that we have a governor who has publicly come out and said that he doesn't want LSU to pay for a top tier coach.
