Very well thought-out post and I thank you for making it, but, IMHO the LSU football powers that be will ignore all of that and, if Aranda is still at LSU when it's time to make a change at HC, LSU will promote Aranda in order to avoid the difficult process of a coaching search and contract negotiation.

So the 64 M $ question is - would you support Aranda as HC? Surround him with excellent recruiters, get a real shadow staff of consultants and pair him up with an ace OC and it could work IMHO. At least one side of the ball would be well handled by a HC as an expert and a good side kick in a hand picked DC of their choosing.

it’s pretty clear what we witnessed yesterday, and it’s that LSU took a couple steps backwards.

What we witnessed was two DBs incapable of making a tackle at the most critical stage of the game when a very slow receiver (according to others wide receivers, not me) made a one handed catch and meandered into the end zone. Is Aranda to blame for that? Of course not, it has to be O.

I’d gundy was hired and goes 9-4 n year one and 6-2 n Sec play everyone would be fine with that. It would be a part of his rebuilding process

Outside hires are treated differently than inside hires. The main argument for inside hires is consistency. Outside hires are brought in to change things up. You expect growing pains when the plan is make changes.

Let’s see what the new OC does and then judge O after next season

He had a new OC this season. If he can't get along with that guy, or understand his system, does he get another year before we can judge him?

If Orgeron goes so does alleva. At that point LSU needs to do everything in it's power to bring Scott Woodward back to Baton Rouge.
