So if Grambling had a bad record and an announcer said "what do they expect, they hired a guy who sounds like them" All would be good? Answer is frick NO. That's all I'm saying

if Grambling had a choice between Nick Saban and Sylvester Croom and willing chose Croom, because being black is more important than being good, then yeah they’d get roasted.

now, if by some chance, the best coach available also happens to look/talk/cook/smell like you, then great. bonus points for you.

Not quite answering the question, are you.

Bonus reply, we had a shot at Saban?

Double bonus, Miss St hired crook, you think any reporter comment on how he "sounded black like miss st people"?

So what's the difference?

actually, yes i am answering the question.

CT is not bashing Ed’s accent. He’s not saying that anybody with that accent sucks. He’s not saying never hire a coonass.

he’s saying that him simply being a coonass should not be his biggest selling point. His coaching should.

ok, change Saban’s name to Jimbo.

did Miss St sell him to the fan base as “black” like our administration sold us O as “one of us”?

NOPE.

they sold him to their fan base on his resumè.
played and coached under Bear Bryant, long time in NFL as an assistant, including time as an OC.

him being black was nothing more than a side note.

O on their other hand was sold as “one of us”.
marketed as “one of us”
“One of Us” was front and center the whole time he was campaigning.
Fans were even told to ignore his resumé.

LSU, the media, and a chunk of the fan base chose him BECAUSE he’s “one of us”.

had we chosen him because of football reasons, then “one of us” would be nothing more than a side note.
Just like Croom’s race was nothing more than a side note.

Croom’s race had pretty much nothing to do with his hire.
So it’s not really ever brought up.

O’s accent had everything to do with his hire.
so it’s constantly brought up as being a colossally stupid reason to hire a head coach.

I’d gundy was hired and goes 9-4 n year one and 6-2 n Sec play everyone would be fine with that. It would be a part of his rebuilding process. But because so many hate O being Lsu HC it’s a dumpster fire. Let’s see what the new OC does and then judge O after next season

His decision to meddle in the offense when he had never coached offense or defense as a unit.

Him throwing players and other coaches under the bus ..example: Troy game

Not having a special teams coach

His history as a head coach in building a program.

They also said on Sirius this morning that the offensive coordinator situation is a joke and ed o's fault also.

Made mention that he said he would keep his nose out of it and he obviously did not.

Then they went on to say he was basically an idiot and we are in trouble with him as coach because he obviously hasn't learned from past mistakes

Their left guard and tackle were consensus all Americans.
And yeah, their kicker

Like LSU, ND has had top 10 recruiting classes the last 5 seasons. But unlike LSU, they don't experience the attrition that we do. This notion that we are just "more talented" than everyone is true to a point (Freshman, Sophmore), but when compared to Juniors and Seniors at other programs, it's really not that close.

I would definitely agree with you that their OL is better than LSU's OL (although it's not a huge difference). The other position groups, I'm not sure there's one that LSU is worse at. For QB and WR, they looked about equal.

Soooo LSU loses to a higher ranked team and LSU takes a step backwards? What if LSU wins? Did the program still take a step backwards?

Some people realize that the only reason LSU won 9 games this season and not 6 or 7 is because LSU played a crappy OOC schedule and the SEC was terrible outside of the states of Alabama and Georgia.

4-9 BYU
FCS Chattanooga
4-8 Syracuse
Loss to Sun Belt Troy
5 out of 8 SEC opponents fired their coach at some point in the season

No, it is because Gundy has a proven track record of success and has built a good program at OkieState. People respect him as a coach.

O was a massive failure at his only other HC stop, so he doesn't get any benefit of the doubt.

While I was not in favor of the hire, this comment is fricking stupid. I feel he was hired mainly due to his existing relationship to Aleva...plus he would work for less money.

No he's not. Too bad you thugs can not read, follow powerful programs before facing on them on the field, get prepared generally like mental alertness for instance instead of blindly listening to Alabama's talking heads on SEC channel predictions. Got news for you . LSU's players are at fault here not Edward.

I counted 20 bone headed, stupid as a rock plays in the first half alone: two missed field goals, dropped-fumbled return by #7, three dropped picks, 30 whiffed tackles, the secondary reeked all damn day contributing nada, one fumble turnover from a back, a goal line stand, etc.

He is spot on. we just lost 4 games with the easiest schedule in the last 2 decades.

Vandy wouldnt have Ed Orgeron in their top 5 for Defensive Coordinator.
