Yeah, at this point, probably so.
This has been on the calendar in my house since last week.
I find that it helps if you go to your wife first and say,
"Hey, listen, the SEC Championship Game is on from 3-6pm on Saturday. So, I made some Christmas plans for us for Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. You good with that?"
If she says, "No, I want Saturday afternoon, too," you've got a bigger problem than football.
Take the initiative with the planning and you don't have to worry about getting blindsided.

My kids are in HB7 gear and we are watching LSUTigersFB YouTube hype videos on the tv waiting for the game. LSU football IS family time; you're doing it wrong.

Never.....NEVER.....EVER.....should a female be in a position to even suggest something like this!
You are the lion, king of the castle! Always remember that Men are the supreme leaders of a family unit and you alone call the shots.

I just have a hard time believing that people really think that watching a football game, even if it is the seccg, is more important than spending time with your family.
WOW what a day for TD. First Chicken finds out that Chris Fowler reads the site. Now we find Dr. Phil posting.

The first date i had with my wife was a LSU vs Tulane football game some 20 yrs ago that i made her watch in the rain. She knew then that LSU was sacred and gametime was LSU. PERIOD. You began this thing all fricked up.

It's not an either or proposition. At least it shouldn't be for most families.

By telling your wife that you want her to watch the game with you and enjoy this special moment together.
It's not ideal, but its a start.
Or, tell her to go and you'll meet her. If you have boys, have the oldest ones stay with you. They need to enjoy this with their Dad.
My kids are pumped about the game.

your wife sounds like a count. this is south louisiana, any woman that does not understand the importantance of football, hunting, and other womanly duties should be divorced.

Exactly. Make it fun. Have people over. It should be something that happens with the family, not in the wood pannelled basement with shag carpet watching it by yourself.
It is 1/4 of the year. My wife knows that I'm all family/chores, etc. in the winter, spring, and summer on Saturdays. But, for 3 hours a day, one day a week, 4 months a year, I watch LSU.
We can negotiate non-BCS conference games.

Well, LSU football in this family is a family affair. Not to say that it should be in every home. Only the youngest, almost 11 year old daughter, isn't as into it as the boys (19 and 14) and we are.
For curiosity, I just asked hubs what would he say if I told him this am that I had plans for us this afternoon to do Christmas things. His reply was "I'd say I'm watching the game" and I have no doubt that he would.
I guess I just figure that the game will be done by 6 or 7 ... can still go ride and see lights or whatever.
By the way, how old are the kids of the OP?
