Great honor.

And Tony Gwynn was one of the best Major League hitters I ever saw. He was also possibly the whitest sounding black guy I ever heard.

Awesome!

I looked yesterday & couldn’t find when the winner was going to be announced.

What a great young man, glad he is representing LSU.

Love Stanfield, he's been a great pickup for LSU.

Seems to be a class guy.

I hope he delivers the CWS-winning hit in walk-off fashion.

I know it's the inaugural award, so it doesn't have the same history, but it's essentially the Clemente award they give in the majors.

It's a huge honor and it's really awesome one of our players got it.

Congrats to Stanny

I hope he hits the go-ahead run in the CWS final game as LSU is en route to an epic blowout lol:

I don't need the stress of needing Stanfield to walk off a win

That is an awesome honor and a great testament to the young man's character.

I love watching Chris play baseball. He always looks like he's totally enjoying himself and respecting the game. I love how excited he gets, not only when he accomplishes something on the diamond, but, more so, when his teammates make great hits and plays. He is always smiling.

Congratulations, Chris Stanfield!!!!

Chris is the ultimate team guy and probably the GOAT @#9 hitter at LSU. Glad he became a LSU tiger. He is definitely a reason we made it to OMAHA and glad he won this award.

Those is really cool and Stanny seems to be a good guy, so it tracks, but what has he done to deserve it? I don't mean that dismissively. I remember reading of a few players donating money for various feats like hits or homers or whatnot. I want to say he was one of those, but I can't remember what it was. Would seem if he has won this award he must be doing something pretty substantial.

Over his three-year college career, Stanfield has been a fixture in the communities of Auburn and LSU. He launched his “Be The 1” campaign at LSU, where he donates $100 to the Miracle League in Baton Rouge for every game in which he produces an extra-base hit or stolen base. He is actively involved with the Miracle League in Baton Rouge, which gives children with any type of disability or special needs the opportunity to play baseball as part of a team.

While at Auburn, Stanfield’s campaign raised $10,000 for the Miracle League of East Alabama, and he has donated his time and talents to the organization since he was in eighth grade in Tallahassee.
