be benched. He has looked bad in the last 6 or 7 games. Put Beloso at first base and DH a Freshman. Maybe use Reid in a pinch hit role late in the game for Hughes or Broussard.

He's been really good at first base defensively, he's just in a slump.

Have they given up on Willis this year at this point? I know he was striking out a lot.

That’s my guess, Reid is in a slump but he has more patience at the plate
Willis has come through when needed tho, too

I think Willis will be huge for LSU next season

Ok so let’s think about this logically.

If you are benching Reid you are putting Beloso in at 1st base.

That opens up a spot for DH and with Dugas’ and DiGiacomo’s recent struggles, I’m not sure either is better offensively right now.

So you go with your best infield

His avg. is down to .260 if he’s not hitting for a higher average, what else does he offer?

Don’t make cliff hanging thread titles. You only do this because you want people to click and open your shity thread.

I would bench Reid and use as a pinch hitter then put Beloso at 1B and DH DiGiacomo against RHP & Dugas against LHP

Average is down but still drawing walks and prolonging at bats.

A 6 pitch out >>>>>> than a 3 pitch out.

It’s a small deal but significant.

Only other thought would be maybe Willis for a potential dinger.

I'm never one for overreacting to a few bad games, but Ried is batting .067 with a 0.222 OBP in his last 9 games. His value comes from that OBP (career OBP is .410), so hopefully he comes out of that slump soon.
My only question is, how do you switch it up? Beloso wasn't bad at first, so the quick fix is to put him back there, but who goes to the DH slot that has proven to be better than Reid?

But he's our BEST PLAYER! Remember when the CPM haters were chiding Mainieri for cutting our BEST PLAYER?

If you call patience taking the first two strikes right down the middle and swinging and missing at the next pitch. He's just not seeing the ball right now. Not even making contact on strike three.

He's in a little bit of a funk but the dude is still a walk machine. There are games where you need bodies on bases and he's a guy you can always count on to be standing at first

It was never about his average or his glove. Both of those are, well, average and that's being generous.

Chris Reid is good for LSU because he works the count, gets the pitchers pitch count up and wears an Indian trail on the first base line. For a lineup full of guys who want to smash home runs and swing at balls in the dirt, they need a guy like Chris Reid.

And for many moments in the season, especially at the plate, he looked the part. Chill with the general overreaction on his struggles. He has transitioned to first well and hope he get back on track, starting today. Relax.
