I think he stopped going to class after that last basketball season ended.

That's unfortunate. He turned his life around and was a very good man when he died. But his former self definitely should have finished school, in order to get any special honors. If he hadn't died so young, he probably would have finished school. Very tragic.

Yes it is. Punish a kid for making money. Dumb as hell

You can make money, and finish school on your free time. If Shaq could find the time to do it, what's everyone else's excuse?

Maravich was 40 when he died. He wasn’t going back to school.

Maybe like so many students in this country, he wasn’t a very good student. ??

I'd argue that going back to finish some dumb general studies degree would be a waste of Mahmoud's time. The concept of the "student-athlete" is often a sham.

Your opinion counts for shite.

You didn't even know he was expelled.

Particularly in basketball. More than a year is unexpected for elite players. It's just a rent a player program

He will never kiss wade’s arse or anyone else’s. And he shouldn’t. I’m not surprised to such a statement because people on here know nothing about anything outside of the street they live on.

...aaand he also shouldn't have his jersey retired. Sounds like a fair arrangement. Move on, snowflake.

Mahmoud, to this day, is the greatest college guard I have seen play the game. He was the combo guard before combo guards ruled the NBA. I have played against him (crushed me) and have talked to him twice. He was a good man of integrity then and is now who just so happens to practice a different faith and holds different political beliefs from many here. Truth is, many who slam Mahmoud are far more forgiving of others who have done and said some pretty fricked up shite.

And for frick's sake, Maravich did not graduate from LSU!

I wonder how many of you clowns who bring up Mahmoud and the flag fly the confederate battle flag.

Did you graduate from LSU? If yes, congrats, we’ll retire it; if no, sorry.

That rule is dated and stupid.

Why would he want his jersey retired in a building that flies the American Flag?

How do you know? People have finished school much older than that. If he had lived longer and still never graduated, then rules are rules. I don't think anyone should get special treatment.

People who aren't good students, should not be allowed to stay for four years.

Again... NO ONE deserves special treatment.

I think the rule requiring graduation is for the HoF not jersey retiring.
