I'd say if we made this move Lee's camp is pretty confident the Dodgers are not going to make the offer they want.
and they've likely gotten a good look at both during summer workouts and Lee was beating him out.

To me our QB situation goes back to Crowton (for not developing what we have) and Miles (for not recruiting anyone else but what we have).
We've had virtually zero development - if anything, regression - from Jordan Jefferson. Jarrett Lee might be the better option but he has what some people call a tendency to throw INTs to the other team that have a tendency to get returned for touchdowns. Ball don't lie.
Russell Shepard has not been developed as a QB and instead is doing the WR thing.
And Zack Lee is a true freshman who might still sign with the Dodgers.
Even WITH Garrett, it wasn't a pretty situation. Now it's worse.
Hope we do better this fall with what we've got.

quote:Then JLee and Shep play QB. Shep was going to play some wild tiger anyway. They would have to design some more spread option for him. CG was never going to play this year regardless of injuries. When you tell the coaches you don't really want any reps because you want to be brought along slow, you are of no real benifit to that years team anyway.
What happens if Jefferson goes down in fall practice with a season ending injury?

Ridiculous.
And all of this with no valid QB recruit on the board this year.

Tried reading this thread and still unsure so did we cut him or did he ask for his release?

Jimmy Ott just found out about Garrett. The Rant RULES

Who gives a frick? Who in thier right mind thought CG would contribute at all this year? If you include Shep for the wild tiger shite, CG was the 4th option!!
The sky isn't falling when the 3rd or fourth string qb is transferring. For Christ's sake, they may not be the best, but both JJ and JL are capable of running the team and Shep is a GREAT emergency qb, probably the best in teh nation as far as striking fear in defenses. If Zack stays, then all the better.
We will be decent at best on offense, and Garret leaving doesn't change a thing!

quote:Agree completely.
If we had 2 other qbs waiting in the wings, i wouldn't have problem with it. We are thin enough as it is. Thats why it doesn't make sense. Especially with a decent chance that Zack Lee either never comes here or isn't that good.
This is a terrible thing for LSU just due to how thin we are at QB and the fact Garret was the only real viable "QB of the future" on roster.

they are saying the sky will fall in 2012 because ZLee won't come here, we will not recruit a legit qb, and will not have any JUCO's transfer here

again if we cut him, how was he a viable QB of the future?

quote:How can people not realize that this is not about THIS YEAR, its about the future QB situation. LSU has 2 scholarship QBs on campus, both juniors, neither of which are very good. Z.Lee may never play a down at LSU b/c of baseball. LSU isn't on the radar for any high profile QBs for this year's recruiting class. At this moment, it appears LSU is completely fricked at QB for the near future.
Who gives a frick? Who in thier right mind thought CG would contribute at all this year?

Exactly. The only disappointing thing in all of this is that apparently he sucks and would never have been the starter. Doesn't matter if Les cut him, he quit, or even if he'd stayed. None of that matters. All that matters is that he sucks(apparently). And if he does, we're no worse off today than we were yesterday. Only difference is now we're just aware of it. Much ado about nothing imho.

exactly. Now if you want to bitch over qb recruiting and development then you have a gripe.
a guy who apparently couldn't hack it leaving isn't a big deal.

Under normal circumstances, with a competent head coach and offensive coordinator, I would agree with this assessment.
However, based on the development of other players under the Miles/Crowten regime, I'm inclined to believe they simply fricked up their handling of Garrett such that he fell behind and decided he would never have a legitimate chance to compete.

Get this, college players tend to improve as they age. Garrett is entering his redshirt freshman season. I don't care so much about the impact this year, but he was going to be the starter in his junior year. Now, we've got nobody. That's bad.
