This could wind up hurting RS the most, if we have injuries, then he would have to take focus away from the WR position and start doing some emergency training at QB. Even if Zach Lee were thrust into the spot because of injuries at #1 and #2, then RS would have to be moved back to QB as an emergency back up.

Get this, college players tend to improve as they age. Garrett is entering his redshirt freshman season. I don't care so much about the impact this year, but he was going to be the starter in his junior year. Now, we've got nobody. That's bad.
Add this to the fact that ever report on this issue states that Garrett wasn't being given adequate reps in the Spring and barely saw the field in the Spring Game (I told my father that I thought that was odd while we were watching the game.)
It's just more evidence of Crowten and Miles inability to develop players and prepare young players for future roles.
Now, these two are placing all their future hopes in a 18 year-old kid, who has never taken a snap at the college level, and may not even end up on campus.

He can't beat out Barrett Bailey and will go to Stephen F. Austin. No big loss.

Always the coaches fault aye?

and many don't.
Our staff obviously felt they had seen enough to decide he wasn't our QB of the future. I mean do you honestly think they'd cut a guy who they felt confident would be the starter in 2 years? Really?

Get this--you don't have to tell me that as I've been arguing the exact same thing in favor of both Lee and Jefferson the last 2 years. But this dude appears to be 5th on the depth chart(behind a walk-on and true Freshman) at a school without great QB depth. I'll sleep fine tonight.

He's at least a body though man
WTF happens if lee plays baseball? Garrett might suck, but I'd rather him over Barrett Bailey

How many examples do some fans need before they'll start to realize that we have a serious problem with developing players on the offense side of the ball?

And you can't tell the differnece between the two before their redshirt freshman year. this is terrible roster management. If a guy gets a shot and can't hack it, fine. but making a decision so early in a guy's career is foolhardy.

Even if Bailey is clearly better? Just because he's a walkon? Do you know how fricking stupid that is? There are plenty of former walkons playing in the NFL. Once they're all on campus, who gives a shite. Shouldn't matter if they're a 1-star walkon or the #1 rated QB in the country. The best should play.

Obviously both parties are confident that isn't going to happen.

Based on what? That he's a walk on? If he was passing CG on the depth chart than he's probably better. Pretty sure both were 3 stars coming out, I could be wrong.

Right, and they've each regressed. So why is so difficult to believe that Crowten and Miles may have seriously mishandled Garrett's development?

He was 3rd string. Miles told him he'd have to compete with Zach Lee to stay 3rd string and that "things weren't working out for him at LSU."
Garrett's responsed about his lack of reps during the spring - and he has a valid point.

You're forgetting who you're talking about here.
It's not like this staff has exactly wowed anybody w/ their talent evaluation skills over the past couple of years.

Like who?
Oh nevermind you mean two young (at the time.)starters at the hardest position on the field
No excuses after this year though

They have a much larger sample size to make that call than you and I do though. We have a few snaps from a scrimmage and some HS film.
You can see from my initial responses in this thread I was pretty shocked, but I'm guessing they have their reasons.

In 21 pages, this somehow became fact, even though its about as far from the truth as one can be. Garrett was 3rd string and was told that he would be competing with Zach Lee, not Bailey. Bailey is an afterthought at this point.

Garrett was a 3. Bailey was a 2.

Garrett appears to have tools and projectability...like I said, he might suck, but let him prove he sucks before casting him off
And Bailey had no other offers, played against shite competition in HS, and will be lucky to take knees in blowouts...and how many of your walk-on NFL superstars played fricking QB??
And since when did Bailey passing Garrett become a stone cold fact anyway?

Lee
Jefferson
Our Offensive Line
So roughly 60% of the offense has regressed under Crowten. At we had Sr. Running Backs and a Sr. Primary receiver last year. Let's see how those positions do this season.

Fine, then that just makes Garett look even more scared to compete. Peace out.
And let me just be clear. I am not arguing our QB situation is good or that Miles and staff have done a good job recruiting or developing that position. I am only saying we're no worse off today than yesterday.
