I rarely bash coaches...but the QB situation on this team is a disaster. This may be Les' death blow.
in retrospect yeah. have to see how it all pans out; we won't see the effects of this for 3 years. we just have zero room for error. lee/jefferson start this year and next, z lee has to forego baseball, and we get a stud-ish QB recruit (HS or JUCO) or transfer (USC?) this year. ALL of this has to happen for us to not be completely fricked in 3 years. Not Good.

There was a thread yesterday that asked if Chris Garrett would see the field. My response..."yes, when he transfers to Mississippi State."

He won't see the field at State either. He won't beat out Tyler Russell there. Heck, thats the reason he didn't go to State in the first place.

The kid is afraid to compete. Is that really who Tigah Nation wants potentially leading their team in a few years?

I think what Tiger Nation wants to see is growth at the QB position. Haven't seen that with Jefferson or Lee. I have no idea if what you posted is true or not about this kid but I do know LSU wanted him in a big way.

as long as he's not a criminal and plays QB well, i don't care if he's scared to compete

I live in Mississippi and recall the abuse this kid took for signing with LSU. Despite it all he was 100% Purple and Gold. Sorry it didn't work out for him in Baton Rouge.

shame on miles to tell a kid that he's bascially not gonna see the field for a while

You're right he should lie. Not to mention you don't know he was told this.

IF Lee comes to school. Theoretically his first full season as a starting QB would be the Fall of the school year he is eligible to re-enter the draft. That could provide one hell of a decision for him.

One thing about the MLB draft - Players usually go pro after their junior years because they lose all leverage as a senior.. They can't threaten to go back to school if they don't like the bonus. However, Lee can use the threat of coming back to play football and won't have to necessarily sign after his 3rd year, thus giving LSU a QB through 2013.

First off it was good to read the board this morning and not get my rear end thrashed. Post got whacked because I didn't have "credible source". I can understand that, my mistake. But I wouldn't have posted it if I even thought it wasn't true.

I speculate that he was cut in order to make room for Z Lee. I also think that Garrett did not want to leave LSU. Just my opinions, but hey what the heck do I know.

Either way I think it was a dumb move.

Doesn't Maineri do the same thing every yr? I'm sure some of the guys he cuts could of gone to other schools and played. I don't see the big deal.

If ZL passes on baseball this year, no way they redshirt him at LSU. He will see playing time as a freshman, but it may be nothing more than what Shep and RR saw last season.

sure, but he has like 3 other guys that can play that position well, I don't think people would have as much an issue with this if we actually had any other younger qbs right now

I'm not a huge basher of Les Miles either, but this is f*cking stupid. If your trying to free up some room for more recruits, there is plenty people you get rid of before a red shirt fresh. He better have a plan up his sleeve or f*ck him, kick his arse out of BR

I am sorry that it didn't work out also. We can still have a squad that can compete with any SEC team next year, we just won't dominate. Quarterback position will just have to limp along as best it can. UNLESS, the MAD HATTER has an ace up his sleeve with some freshman recruit. If he doesn't the next 4 years will be run, run, run. Either way...Geaux Tigers!
