Yeah, because everyone's circumstances are all the same.

Lots of speculation that his stock would only go up. If he feels like it would not have gone up, he goes now. Get in the league, get back into playing shape and play ball.

Two options to make this simple for you

A. Get drafted in a "fight to get on roster" spot, get crappy contract with almost no guaranteed money

B. Stay in college 1 more year to possibly improve stock from option A, if you do, you can earn up to millions more in guaranteed money, if you arent any better, you're still going to end up in option A

That's where projections had him at. My statement was correct.

Those projections are meaningless and are not made by the people that actually do the drafting. They don't rank or evaluate guys that are not in the draft.

As someone else pointed out, if he can improve from 2012 (injury) to 2013 to improve his stock so much, why is it impossible to make an NFL roster?

Again, why do you assume another year in college raises his stock?

Im not assuming anything. Are you paying attention to the words "potentially" and "could". Nothing is a guarantee but a chance is always better than being stuck with minimum.

If Faulk gets hurt again at LSU he's Ciron Black or Will Arnold all over again. I don't blame him much for leaving.

you're forgetting the third option:

C. a variable occurs that lowers his stock even lower than it is right now

Generally they do a good job projecting where most people go. I would agree it's tough to project a season or more away in advance, but the point there was clearly many folks saw him as a top OT talent. Now with missing an entire year due to injury and only starting 1 year, there's a ton of question marks.

What? I think you are missing the point I';m making here. Look at the two options once again. He's in option A right now, he COULD HAVE had option B and the worst of that is he's still pretty much where he'd be at with option A.

His stock is meaningless at this point. Teams cut late round picks all the time, even in first years.

This is so not true.

It's not as black and white as you're putting it. There are probably dozens of pluses and minuses of making this difficult decision. All of them contribute.

Do some of you realize being a late round pick is nothing guaranteed?

Not if they think they can contribute to the roster.

Of course. Do you realize that coming back for another year doesn't guarantee anything either?

And undrafted free agents are fairly the same boat. If they can contribute, they make the team with a contract not much different than a late round pick.

Do you even read what you are posting?

The "crappy" contract is $405,000 MINIMUM. No NFL contract is guaranteed. Yes, a first rounder gets more, but since there is no guarantee that he would be a first rounder, a bird in hand as they say.

As for your fighting for a roster spot argument. If he is drafted that team will know about his injury and his progress, so he would have to be exceptionally shitty in camp to get cut since he would be relatively cheap. Why would he play at such a high level he gets drafted in the first if he comes back, but so shitty in camp he gets cut because he came out early? That really makes no sense.

It's a lot easier for you to say take option A when it's not your life.

For the 3rd or 4th time, I never said it did. But once again, go look at the 2 options. He could leave and have to fight for minimum stuff now, or come back and potentially improve that with a lot of guaranteed money and probably worst case is he's still where he's at right now.

You need to broaden this and consider other factors.
