Actually, what Josh said was true! Braswell last year was criticized relentlessly because of his errors at SS, even though he was an excellent bat. This year, one guy wanted to platoon Stanfield and another idiot said Eyanson wasn't an SEC pitcher! Both were dumbass comments!

I said it earlier this season, and I will say it again. I like watching Stanfield at the plate. He is relaxed. He isn't doing a bunch of unnecessary motions/adjustments. He has a quiet confidence. Plus his glove skills are fantastic. Glad he is the right kind of Tiger now.

Stanfield, braswell and eyanson have been the rant whipping boys for months now. Weird coincidence
Stanfield and Eyanson not so much really. Braswell on the other hand. Mayer, Benge, and Schmidt have been getting an earful too

He’s become one of my favorites.
And equally great with his current batting, is the amount of space he can cover out in Center

Sure there were a handful of rantards on here saying that, but the consensus has been very pro Stanfield.
Eyanson caught more flack early on, especially when he had a couple of pretty bad innings, including a three run first against Nebraska and five runs in the first three, along with a couple other non ideal starts. The prevailing narrative around him, though, was that he starts slow and then settles in. Most people wanted to give him a fair chance to adjust to SEC hitters and pointed to his low walk ratio. Many wanted him left in longer against Texas, if you’ll recall. In any event, there are at least as many who want to bench Shores, so your accusation is still bullshite.
There was a larger majority critical of Braswell, but I think it was warranted because of his hitting struggles, including against very sub par competition. Looks like he’s turning that round now, and I hope he is. Reaves’s error isn’t going to help him get paying time.
Only because you didn’t have the balls to come out and say it.

He had a great game last night! He was great defensively and at the plate. His 2 out 2 run double was clutch.

I agree! He's been incredible in CF. He makes a lot of tough plays look easy.

Yep. He ran one down tonight that would have been a base hit for a lot of teams.

I could dig up lots of bench stanfield posts and threads. Including in the thursday game thread.

I wouldnt say many, it was mostly me being vocal about it

There were alot more wanting eyanson benched than shores, because one throws harder than the other. Andmy accusation is that all 3 players made them eat their words. All 3 whipping boys have turned it around, they are 0 for 3.

I think most just underrate good defense compared to offense. Its hard to measure, but last night is a perfect example of the issue for reaves. Not only can it cost you a run, but it can cost you more pitches, and potentially a big inning.

Nah, i think ive made it clear over the years, if thats what i wanted to say, id have no issue saying it. But thats not what i was referring to. Its more that all the guys getting piled on have made the rant gurus continue to look like over emotional pussies

No it has very much not. This is the first weekend where we haven’t had multiple threads questioning why Curiel isn’t in CF

I cant lie, I stand fricking corrected. He is hanging on and doing his part! Glad for the Tigers. We got a solid 9 hole and a solid 7 hole(hernandez).
JAY has gotten this program over the hump. We are now fighting through adversity and still winning games. Remove the 23 team and its really been a long time since we have just cruised through adversity and still consistently keep winning.

And I recalled those threads getting ratioed but I’m not going to dig through them. We can agree to disagree. Anyway, Stanfield’s awesome and he has been all year.

In the context of a 9-hole hitter that is good and experienced in the field, he’s a solid player.
In the context of which 3 LSU OFs give you the best upside, an argument can be made for Pearson LF, Curiel CF, Brown RF.
The reality is that LSU would remain as a top defensive team with those 3, and would have a lot more pop in the lineup.
So the question becomes what does Stanfield offer that, say, Pearson doesn’t. Speed is one thing but we have not really seen Stanny use that speed to translate into much added production. He doesn’t steal bases etc. Will he hit for better avg than a guy like Pearson? Probably 20 pts higher if I’m guessing, but you offset that with the pop you get from someone like Pearson. You get no HR threat with Stanny.

I know Josh Pearson is clutch and comes up big, but to say Stanfield doesn’t offer much more than him in the field and at the place is comical. Stanfield is hitting .395 in SEC play with 8 doubles. Josh hit a couple HRs but is hitting .240. Even with Josh’s 3 HRs, Stanny is slugging and getting on base .100 more than him. That’s a huge discrepancy.
