That article is basically just pulling a little piece out of a longer, better article from the News Star
The Mingo part is on page 2.

the kid from A&M was drafted no. 2 at 246 pounds and he basically played de all year. not a big guy

DE and really all defensive positions is so much more about technique and leverage than brute size. If he can play with good knee bend, his burst and strong hands (I’ve been told his hand strength is crazy) will allow him to fight off blocks. I don’t remember who it was, I think maybe Reggie White, who said playing DE is the closest thing in sports to being a boxer. It’s all about your hands!

He's 237 now? Not bad. Seeing as how I last saw him listed at like 210 or so.
Posted on 5/9/11 at 1:14 pm to Eman5805
he was listed at 237 heading into last season

He's got great potential to be a pass rusher, but he had some awful moments against the run last year--awful even taking into account his youth.
I'd like to see him morph into LSU's next version of Gabe Northern though.

Chavis doesn't really talk out of his arse, so this is very encouraging to hear.
The folks from the JJ/Chavis thread disagree...

It looked like Sam was becoming a very good pass rusher before he got hurt. I am ready to see this line in action.
