Actually there is no guarantees that Tyler Shelvin is going to make the NFL anyway. Hopefully he will, but I hope that he gets his degree because most players don't make it to the NFL. A bad work ethic is not conducive to a successful NFL career anyway.

Even if an agent spots him money leading up to the draft, that agent isn't going to be riding him like a football coach would in the offseason to stay in shape. They don't have all the team work-out regimines they do in college. That's actually one of the bigger wake-up calls for a lot of NFL players. What they do in the offseason is all on them. They don't have the babysitting they have in college to make sure they stay on track. They're expected to put in the work and be a responsible employee. If they don't, they get cut. Everything changes once football becomes your job. NFL coaches aren't going to spend the time college coaches do because they can always go sign someone else who isn't lazy and will be accountable.
Getting paid doesn't change that. It will be solely up to Shelvin to make sure he gets in shape and stays there. And if past history is any indicator on the future, I have my doubts. It only took him a few months of a COVID lockdown for him to balloon back up another 20 pounds. I don't like his odds when he's left to be solely responsible for that for 9 months.

chase will be passed by others who will be viewed as go getters and I agree. No one likes a slouch. He’ll go in second or third third book marked it.

Even if Shelvin would not have opted out, how many snaps a game would he have played at 370 pounds?

These guys do just stay home to prepare for the draft.
They go somewhere and train with professionals that won't let them balloon up.
