Chase going very high on the draft is not good for College Football. It’s good for him of course.

LSU fans doing what they do in this thread. They devour their own like it’s nothing. Chase put it all on the line and helped bring home a championship while proving he was the best receiver in the country. He had nothing to gain this year by playing. In a normal year he would have played. Covid hit his family pretty hard, so it’s understandable why he didn’t want to play football for free in a global pandemic.

I can’t believe so many people here think Chase “quit” ahaha. He’s a lock for a top ten draft pick and he doesn’t want to play during a LITERAL world pandemic. He doesn’t owe LSU annnnything.

I would take Smith all day over Chase. One is a Heisman winner and the other is a bitch, arse quitter.

Would you also question taking Penei Sewell?

I loved Chase at LSU but he did what he did. Smith came back. Got even better and won the heisman. I don’t see how anyone can seriously argue this. Maybe if we are comparing physical size? They’re different receivers. Both great. Can’t go wrong.

Yeah...taking Devonta would surely get you fired.... idiot.

Show where I said taking devonta would be a mistake or where I’ve said anything about devonta not being an amazing player. You are possibly low IQ.

I can’t agree more.
Adversity struck and he quit/walked.
He will fall.
Out of sight out of mind.

Smith wouldn't be in this conversation if he hadn't played. He was no where near the player he is now of he sits this year out. Chase had little to gain and much to lose, smith had much to gain and nothing to lose.

People say he had nothing to play for. How about the college experience of playing games with your teammates. The memories last a lifetime. Also, maybe if he came back he would have had a shot at the Heisman like DeVonta Smith did.

I don’t really feel like Chase quit, I feel like he made an intelligent business decision for his future.

Chase chose to pass on playing for a terrible team and finished his LSU career as a National Champion. Soon, he’ll be a first round NFL draft pick.

Smith chose to play for a team that had a great chance to compete for a National Championship this year after missing out on that chance last year. Now, he can go out on top as Chase did.

Imagine if chase would have played this year. Marshall didn’t quit. Our young QBs had those 2 seasoned guys to throw to, would have been nice.

Yes chase is a beast. Gut tells me he’ll drop behind smith/waddle for sitting out a year unless he shows out at the combine. Wish the dude the best

Chase did quit. All things being equal, a quality GM will choose Smith first because of his commitment to his team over his commitment to himself. In the Marines, there is a phrase for that type of mindset: “hooray for me and f you!” That is not what a good gm wants.
