year one to year two?

Why do people think Nuss can’t improve from year to year 2? My LSU fandom started around 2005 but isn’t there plenty of evidence from trends that he will improve? Maybe he doesn’t take that big leap that JD5 and Burrow did but it’s hard for me to believe that he’ll be worse based on history

In those 2 guys defense, they didn’t have much of a chance to be good in those offenses. Les’ biggest downfall was tightening up on offense. It we keep a similar offense to 05-07, he’s looked at in a whole new light.

I’ll give you Jefferson but Brandon Harris didn’t start for two years.

If anything they would be an outlier and everyone else got better, right?

Jefferson definitely improved and was a much better QB in 2011 than given credit for. Brandon Harris also improved. By the end of his career, his divots were a lot closer to the feet of the WR than his first year as starter.

Maybe, but the problem is that he is a head case at this point. Hard to know how that turns out. And the pocket presence is so bad I don’t know if it can be fixed.

Jordan Jefferson
Brandon Harris
Max Johnson
Anthony Jennings
All the bad ones.

Jennings didn't get better. Nuss is what he is. Between Mett and Burrow, none of them improved.

The thing is, does Nuss look that different than he did as a freshmen against Arkansas?

He has the same strengths and issues. Maybe less confidence right now.

Max Johnson wasn't a full time starter for two years.

Jamarcus Russell
Danny Etling
Zach Mett
Burrow
JD5

All improved from their first year as a full time starter to their second year. Why can't Nuss?

But you would say he improved, right?

Lack of athletic ability, bad decision making, and being scared are difficult to overcome.

It's hard to improve when your OL is a revolving door, and it's going to be much worse next year.

For me it's less about Year 1 to year 2 than it is about a true recruit.

The last time we had a QB who was even above average and wasn't a transfer was literally recruited by Nick Saban 2+ decades ago.

Why would it be any different with Nuss?

Since 2006
Transfers
Mettenberger
Etling
Burrow
Daniels

HS Recruits
Russell
Lee
Jefferson
Harris
Jennings
Johnson
Finley
Brennan
Nussmeier

I have zero reason to believe that Nuss is going to get better based on that alone

I agree. I think he's playing scared now. Most qb's never recover from that. Like J Lee.

Eh, Lee redeemed himself a bunch in 2011, even if he wasn’t lighting it up.

Because he got benched after the first 5 quarters in 2016.

At first, I was like:

Then I realized the Harris comment was tongue in cheek, lol.
