Lavalais dominated that 2003 Auburn game more than any one particular game Dorsey did.

Dorsey dominated Auburn in 2006 and was again in 2007 until Chaz Ramsey happened

Their stats in the 03 and 06 games are basically indentical

Never can understand these constant who was better threads, especially players who were 15 to 20 years apart. Everything is relative to a variety of factors which are not always the same in each circumstance.

Lavalais bull rushed the center who ended up stepping back onto Eli's foot in 2003 ending his career v. LSU flat on his backside!

The others you’ve named aren’t helping a supposed argument that the 2007 supporting cast in the DL was better

Al Woods has been in the NFL for 11 years and Favorite spent time in the NFL as well. You want to make it seem like Dorsey had nothing but scrubs around him but it’s simply not true.

I never argued they were better, I just said you got the starters wrong and didn’t mention guys who dominated in the national title game.

In 2003, he was the best on that defense and it wasn’t close. Hell, he was the best player on the team.

Cory Webster was phenomenal too. He had 7 ints. and was 2nd in the SEC in pass breakups. He was huge in LSU's biggest games against UGA, Ole Miss and in the NC when he had that awesome interception. He had interceptions in all of those games and a ton of tackles. Lavalais and Webster were equally awesome, but just played very different positions. That D was loaded with great players.

Dorsey and its not even close. Dude, I love Lavalais, but Dorsey was able to help LSU overcome 2 losses, Les Miles and Chad Ramsey to win an SEC and National Championship on one leg. Dorsey was just abusing people before he got hurt. After he got hurt he was just an All-American.

Tyson Jasckson, and Claude Wroten weren’t bad. Not as good as 2003 but at the same time they were one of the best dlines in football in 2007.

Dorsey vs Virginia Tech was a clinic. They couldn’t stop him.

I remember on the replay they kept showing how good his jump was at the snap. He was perfectly in time with the snap of the ball. It was absolutely unreal.

Lavalais by a nose but can’t go wrong either way.

Pfft....not only was Lavalais not as good as Dorsey, he wasn't as good as Leonard Marshall or Henry Thomas who were both drafted higher, played 12 and 14 years respectively in the NFL and were both, multiple Pro-Bowlers.

Nice double standard there buddy. Lavalais can’t be great because Marshall and Thomas had better pro careers, which makes no sense, we’re talking about LSU. But Dorsey is better than Marshall and Thomas even though they had better NFL careers. Boy you really thought that one through.

I won’t argue that Lavalais was or wasn’t the best player on that 03 defense. That was a very special group. My point is he may have been the best player on that defense & was just a 3rd round pick & an average at best NFL guy. I don’t understand how that happens.

Not as bad as Herb Tyler getting KO's by Florida LB.. in 97... UI can still see Brian Sparicino on the sideline ... that was the worst cheap shot i can remember

Kyle Williams ended up being than both of them in the pros...He had a hell of a career...Him and Danielle Hunter I will never understand how they weren't first team all everything here...

Williams was outstanding his senior season. 1st or 2nd team all American by basically every publication.

I’ll give you Hunter. Our misuse of him was borderline criminal.

ETA: Williams was outstanding his sophomore and junior seasons too

I guess the post about supporting cast/double teams didn’t penetrate your thick skull? Lavalais played on a line with a 1st round NFL pick (Spears) a 2nd rounder (Hill) and a future 6-time Pro Bowler (Williams). Dorsey played with guys like Charles Alexander, Tremaine Jonson and Marlon Favorite - all of whom went undrafted.

Plus Dorsey benchpressed that Auburn O linemen into the backfield and pancaked the RB
