Who was the most dominant and better of the two? That 2003 season was a monster for Lavalais. Couldn't be stopped.

Lavalais was more productive imo. Maybe bc he had a better surrounding cast and couldn’t be doubled. Marquise Hill, Marcus Spears, Kyle Williams. Stacked.

Both among the best.
Dorsey was dominant but he never was the same at either the college or pro level after he was the victim of a cheap shot chop block against Auburn,

Glen was so good in 07 then Auburn tired to amputate his leg. That is still the dirtiest play I ever seen.

Lavalais also being 2-3 year older than his counterparts helped him a great deal

that's why despite having such a great collegiate career, his NFL stock was never particularly high

I'd take peak Dorsey before the chazz cheap shot over Lavalais

Dorsey is the most decorated defensive player in LSU history. It’s not even close. Lavalais was great but not Dorsey great

Lavalais seems to have gotten lost in the LSU greats

Whats crazy to me is how much better Kyle Williams ended up being than both of them in the pros...He had a hell of a career...Him and Danielle Hunter I will never understand how they weren't first team all everything here...

Lavalais was a dog and tough as nails but he had an NFL DL around him. Dorsey was a better player pre Chaz.

Dorsey vs Virginia Tech was a clinic. They couldn’t stop him.

This thread reminds me that we’ll have a very, very talented DL this year. On paper (key words) one of the most talented in a long time. Hope they perform.

Dorsey won all his awards due to the fact that LSU was a national power when he came along. Swap years and Dorsey would still be really good in 2003, but not win awards. Put Lavalais on the 2007 team and he wins every award possible.

Put Lavalais on the 2007 team, and he gets double-teamed a lot more than he did in 2003. The 2003 DL group was way better than the 2007 group, which is why Dorsey saw double-teams on almost every snap. Teams couldn't do that to Lavalais with who he had playing around him. I mean they were both All-Americans, but there's a reason one was a top 5 draft pick and the other a 5th round pick

It's pretty much a coin flip for me. Both were so damn good.
