From NFL.com
If you are thinking that CEH’s height (5’8”) is a handicap perhaps consider other short players who went on to success in the NFL:

Darren Sproles - 5’6”
Barry Sanders - 5’8”
Maurice Jones Drew - 5’8”

The guy played behind Guice and Guice is a big believer in CEH’s abilities. I feel good about CEH, Brossette, and Curry. We are the dark horse this season, underestimated and the underdog. Let’s go shake some people up!

So you found 3 players and that proves CEH is gonna be like Barry Sanders or MJD?

No, of course not. I’ve heard several commentators talk about his height like it’s a liability and my point is that that is not necessarily true.

There’s more in that 5-7 to 5-9 range that you would think.

Overcoming the odds doesn't mean his height wasn't/isn't a liability.

Bad news

I’m also 5’8” and I suck at running back.

You're confused. It's the one position shorter players are often better bc of their low center of gravity.

I don’t worry about his height. I worry that it’s a huge drop off in talent from what we are used to. We have had close to 25 years of solid running backs almost. This year I just don’t see it.

If you were going the 5’8” RB route, why not just do Faulk, Hilliard and Magee?

I didn’t realize they were the same height. Also didn’t realize Trindon Holliday was only 5’5”.

I just don’t think you are doing CEH any favors by suggesting because
Sanders and MJD are short it means CEH can be successful.

It’s just not a good comparison.

Look, I hear you and I’m not saying he compares talent-wise but that it’s not necessarily a liability to be shorter.

Plus, I think he might not be the drop-off in talent that everyone is saying. I like what Guice said about him last year:

“The knock on Edwards-Helaire in recruiting was his height. Some murmured that the Tigers offered him only because he was local and they whiffed on higher-rated recruits at the position. But Guice knows the 5-foot-8 back uses his size to his advantage.

“All the defensive players are over 6-foot, and he’s over here like 5-5 and built like a tree stump,” Guice said. “He’s thick. He’s shifty. He always blends in with the offensive line. And he always keeps his legs turning. It’s just hard to stop a guy like that.”

Guice sees a lot of himself in Edwards-Helaire.

“We complement each other really well,” Guice said. “We kind of run the same. We’ve been behind each other all the way from little league football to high school to now.“
