Don't forget that Rondell was 12-129 in that same game against Auburn. That LSU OL was dominating.

And we still LOST!!!!

I Know he is now one of our coaches, but still have trouble forgiving Dmaeyune Craig for that game.

Cecil ran behind Faneca for 4 games. Talented but he's no LF7

Like another poster said Mealey shredded Auburn that game too

Collins was the comparison to Darren McFadden than any other back I've ever seen. The difference between Collins and Fournette is Collins had better vision and cutting ability. If I had to take 2 backs and make one it would be Fournette and Guice and you have Collins.
What some of you are forgetting are he pure stats Collins piled up in High School. They were as big as Foirnette and may have even been more total yards if I remember correctly.

No I'm not googling it.

I did care less about HS stats. Fournette had like 12 carries for 2000 yards his senior year.

Fournette is legitimately being put in the same category as hershel walker and bo freaking jackson.

I don't think you guys realize Whats in front of you.

I just can't fathom how 3 great games against crappy defenses means you are the top back at a school like LSU

This guy gets it. Seriously guys Cecil was awesome no doubt. But we are talking about a guy who broke the LSU single season rushing record and will probably break the yards per game record that Alley set. It's really not a comparison.

19 carries 227 yards last year with only 3 second half carries. Was not tacked in the second half... 2tds and 1 play he drug 5 players out of bounds after demolishing a DB.

Could have easily had 300 yards with a reasonable non Derrick Henry # of carries

It's closer than most will admit. I think Cecil was quicker in the hole and finished runs a bit better, but Leonard has more top end speed and raw power.

Look at Cecil's tape. He was quick as frick and a fantastic finisher, always fighting for that extra yard. When he hit the open field, though, he'd usually get caught from behind before scoring. Leonard punishes more, squaring up and running over tacklers rather than spinning and glancing. When he gets a seam, no one can run him down.

I'd give the nod to LF7, because defenses completely sell out to stop him and most can't, but Cecil is in the discussion.

Probably not if Miles sits them 2-1/2 quarters into the game:

Fournette (2015): 19 carries 228 yards 12.0 ypc 3 TDs

Collins (1997): 27 carries 232 years 8.6 ypc 2 TDs

10/3 Eastern Michigan W 44-22 26 233 9.0 75 3 0 0 0.0 0 0
Total: 99 carries, 864 yards, 8.72 yards per carry, 216 yards per game, 11tds

Fournette had a much better 4 game stretch last year. And he put up 228 against Auburn in an extremely satisfying revenge win.

Cecil's 4 game stretch
Rushing Receiving Scrimmage
School Conf Class Pos G Att Yds Avg TD
LSU SEC RB 4 72 596 8.3 3

149 yards per game, only 3 tds.

Give me fournette all day. More pure talent and SMART and HUMBLE!

Cecil couldnt stay healthy either and he was horrible with the dolphins.

LF already has 2 seasons with over 1,000 yards.

No comparison.

How in the hell is this even being discussed? Was Collins at or above the level of Herschel Walker? Because Fournette IS. That's the level we are talking about.

Auburn and State didn't have crappy defenses. Auburn finished ranked 11th in the nation and State finished with a winning record. He was electrifying right out of the gate, but who knows if he could have kept that up for more than one year (Justin Vincent had an incredible freshman year run, but never performed like that again). Still not sure how we lost the Auburn game with Cecil and that crowd (one of the loudest I've ever heard).
