No mention of TD or LA.

The NPR story talked about donations pouring in from Louisiana as well.

This isn't the abbreviation for Louisiana.

It’s the postal abbreviation for the state; so why would it not be an accepted abbreviation?

I get that people refer to Los Angeles as “LA;” but it doesn’t make it any less of an abbreviation for the state.

Los Angeles is L.A. and Louisiana is LA in text. Now in speech, if someone says “LA”, I always think of Los Angeles because no one says “LA” for Louisiana, “TN” for Tennessee, etc.

Um, NO.

I mean, you could write it that way on a letter and it would still be recognized / delivered as long as it's properly addressed...but every official Postal Service state designation is represented by 2 capital letters.

Then again, I'm only a retired mailman of more than 30 years...so what the hell do I know?
